Underwater lights

I'd be wary of "waterproof" light strips at bargain prices. Last thing you want is all the copper electrodes to become friends with your salt water. I'm sure there are some good ones out there.

You could also use optical fiber, specifically a lossy (as in, it leaks light out) one made for lighting which will give a nice even glow over its length. For example (disclaimer: never used this product) http://www.amazon.com/Plastruct-FOP-30-Fibre-Optics-030/dp/B0006O6X74/. If you strap it to an LED at one end I'm sure it will look pretty neat.

If this is more DIY than you wanted, they do sell in-tank lights, usually next to the aquarium decorations and plastic skulls. We won't judge ;)

Tunze makes a LED strip that can be used underwater. I've never used it or seen it in person, but would be inclined to trust it based on Tunze's reputation for quality.

I've also seen a hole(s) drilled in the top of the cabinet with lights mounted under the cabinet shining up through the underside of the tank.

Check out the tank on today's Advanced Aquarist post. It has a cave with blue lights.

Consider the new Fluval Prism underwater spotlight. I have one in my 40 Gallon I use as a moonlight. Has a remote and several color options and it is completely submersible. The light is more of a focused beam though and you do need a line of sight to the light to use the remote.
