undrilled closed loop.

I am going BB and installing a closed loop system that is undrilled. I want the closed loop to double as a rock rack to help keep the bottom of my tank more open and allow a way to "blow" nasties off of the the starboard.

I'm having problems determining how much "head" I will actually have. The closed loop will have to come up over the back of my aquarium, down into the aquarium and snake around a bit to create the rack. I plan on drilling holes on the underside of the PVC to allow the water to blow anything trying to settle on the starboard. Possibly a few holes here and there in other places to add extra circulation throughout the tank. The pump, if installed under the tank, would have to push water 4 feet up and then down two(into the tank) and then wherever the rack goes. To determine the head do I count every foot of pipe or just the 4 feet up over the back of the aquarium. It seems to me I would have to consider the full length of pipe.

I was considering the possibility of two seperate smaller racks...one on each side instead of one large one...but I'm undecided about the benefits of that plan.

Thanks all!!!

In a closed loop you will have no head. You will get some from the friction from the pipe but it will be min.
