I've rescued a few trachys with similar coloring, and the pink turned red and the yellow turned green. I've had a few gain some nice blues that I didn't expect as well.
Yikes. Hope that's not the case with mine or the amateur just got fleeced by a reputable LFS. The owner even tried talking me down on an equipment purchase once because I was buying something high end and there were cheaper alternatives. I was thinking he might be bleached or sick when I first saw him but given the owners rep and my previous experience with him I thought it was legit coloring. Probably paid double the price of a standard trachy.
Yikes as well. I've seen bubblegum pink trachy's, but it wasn't a bleached red looking pink. It also had very vibrant other colors...not a faded look overall.
On a positive note, it does look very healthy...so hopefully we're wrong.
not to confuse the situation, but mine looks almost identical and it's from LACK of light. My par in the sandbed is like 130 due to some lighting issues. I added LED lights and am ramping up the par and it's starting to color back up a little.
hmm.. tried to post pics but too big for upload apparently
I'll try linking images
