These brown flower polyps are growing all over our live rock and now on some of our corals. They are killing them slowly. I have been unable to get rid of them. Any ideas on what they are or how to get rid of them?
Hard to tell from the pic but it may be colonial hydroids, which fits your description. They pack a powerful sting. Unfortunately I know of no biological control for them.
They're too distinctly xenia-like in shape to be hydroids---I think. I've never seen hydroids under high magnification. Of course I've never seen clove polyps in real life, either.
