Unofficially For Sale - 360g reef setup

It's tough sitting here typing this out, seeing the words materialize but change starts here for me.

This is an "unofficial" FS thread. I'm not going to post any prices at this point. I'm more or less looking for people who are potentially interested and we will have to discuss what parts you want and what you don't want. Ideally I want to sell as a complete setup. I'll entertain the idea of breaking it into chunks, but not parting any single items out. ** Everything is listed below, but again, items are not for sale individually ** This is to give an overview of what's included in the complete setup.

--------------------------- Main Tank --------------------------------
~ 360g Envision Acrylic Tank. 86x33 footprint x 29 tall. (3) top openings. Blue background. Center overflow drilled for Herbie-style plumbing. I polished this tank out to near-new condition when I bought it, it was scratch free until recently when I accidentally gouged a few spots. I will polish those spots out individually but will not re-polish the entire tank (it does not need it).

~ Custom made stand. Textured and painted sand color (matches my walls) with black laminate trim. (3) doors attached by magnets.

~ Custom "canopy". It is totally enclosed and ported for forced air ventilation (so no humidity escapes into the house). You really need to look at my build thread to see how this is set up.

~ 60g acrylic sump. 42x18 footprint x 18 tall. Has 2 compartments separated by baffles. Drilled for 2" return pump plumbing, 1 1/2" water top off / water change plumbing, 2 small float switches (for ATO).

~ Tunze 9440 skimmer. Some custom acrylic mods to make it work better. Ported for waste collector (not provided). Also includes most of a working third Hydrofoamer pump (missing volute) and (2) extra needlewheel impellers. Original box included.

~ (4) Tunze 6100 powerheads. All great condition. Include transformers, and drivers. Also include (2) 6000 transformers to run 2 of the pumps with less flow/energy use if desired. Magnet mounts for 2 of the pumps are included, Tunze Deco Rocks are included for the other 2. Original boxes included.

~ Tunze 7095 controller with moonlight. Moonlight cable has been extended by me for extra reach. Everything working perfectly. Original box included.

~ Sequence Dart return pump. Works great. Almost silent when stand is closed up.

~ Sequence Snapper return pump. Hardly used. Had it for a backup pump in case I needed to clean the main pump or had a failure.

~ (3) Icecap electronic 175w MH ballasts. Awesome efficient ballasts. Include quick coupled extension cables.

~ (3) Lumenarc III reflectors with custom made stainless steel mounting brackets for mogul based bulb. Original mounts are not included, not sure what I did with them. Reflectors are in good condition. Some salt spray, will probably clean up nicely with RODI water + Vinegar bath.

~ (3) Iwasaki 175w 15 bulbs. Unless I replace them first they will be in need of replacement. These are awesome bulbs if you like a white look. There is no blue to them, not like the color of Phoenix 14k at all. They put out a ton of PAR (more like a 250w Phoenix) and the white spectrum shows the true color of fish very nicely. These paired with the above ballasts and reflectors are the most efficient MH combination possible. (for reference if someone wanted to stick with this bulb)

~ (2) Deltec FR-509 media reactors. Excellent quality, nice size for this system. One reactor is currently full of WM Biopellets which will be included if wanted. Original boxes included.

~ (1) Lot of plumbing which includes multiple high end tru-union ball valves, one of which is a 3-way valve and can be used for automatic (or manual) water change. It has a standard handle on it, I will also include an electric actuator for it that I never set up. The plumbing is probably $500 worth of valves easily if bought new.

~ Forced ventilation fan. Uses about 40w. Keeps the canopy area and tank stand free of condensation. Also keeps the tank very cool (the effect is like running a 1/2 HP chiller constantly, but for only 40w!). Will included all related ducting.

~ (2) Jager 400w heaters. Work fine, look like new.

~ (2) Eheim auto feeders. Work great for pellet and flake food.

~ Refractometer

~ Hanna hand-held PH meter

~ Several timers and powerstrips

~ 275 lbs live rock. No pest anemones, some valonia algae.

~ 150 lbs live sand. Mostly coarse grade "Fiji Pink", some finer special grade.

~ (7) Filter socks, some variation in size and condition.

~ (4) 5g rectangular water jugs. One of them I'm using for skimmer waste collector.

~ (1) Lot of fragging tools including brand new reef putty (purple stuff).

~ (1) Lot of IO salt, Seachem carbon, Mrs. Wages lime, etc...

~ (1) Lot of misc fish foods

~ (1) Lot of 5g salt buckets

--------------------------- Quarantine Tank ------------------------------
~ 55g Tru View (standard size). Scratched up and ugly. Drilled in front for drain line connection. Small crack at this location, repaired by me. Has held water fine for several years.

~ Remora HOB skimmer with MJ1200 pump.

~ Penguin Biowheel, old but works ok most of the time.

~ 2x 24w T5 with individual relflectors. Includes recently changed bulbs (Icecap 12k). Ballast has some rust from salt creep, but works fine.

~ (3) heaters. 2 misc brand, (1) Jager.

~ Koralia 3 (or 4, can't remember) powerhead.

~ Mag float cleaning magnet.

~ Refractometer.

~ Timer and powerstrip.

~ (1) Lot of medications... lots of stuff.

~ One of my Fish Disease & Treatment Quick Reference posters

--------------------------- Water Treatment ----------------------------
~ (2) home made 4-stage RODI units. Clear filter housings. Set up for 5 micron prefilter, 1 micron carbon block, RO, re-fillable DI. Works great. Mounted up a little funky right now, will include some formed white acrylic brackets I recently made for the ambitious person who wants to redo it to look nicer. Set of brand new replacement filters is also included (no RO membranes though).

~ 3 pressure gauges from BRS. Brand new, never used.

~ Separate pair of smaller refillable DI housings.

~ (1) Lot of push to connect fittings and tubing.

~ DI resin, I believe about 6 lbs (1 unopened bag, plus half of other bag) from BRS.

~ Dual inline TDS meter by Hanna. Brand new, never used. Will include TDS calibration fluid, also brand new.

~ Hanna hand-held TDS meter.

~ (2) 65g food grade drums. White HDPE. Closed top. I have added fittings to connect 1/4" tubing, as well as a larger rectangular opening with swing away cover on each drum. One drum includes (2) float switches mounted at strategic positions (this is my RO/DI storage drum), the other includes (1) float switch for low level indication (this is my saltwater mix up drum).

~ Gorman Rupp GRI-520 pump. Hardly used. Very powerful pump for applications where head pressure will be high. I was planning to use for auto water change but never did.

~ Dual top off module. This is a DIY module that I designed. It handles the main tank top off as well as the RO/DI storage water top off with the float switches that are supplied with those items. The guts are in an 8x10 elect box. Also included with this are 3x electric solenoid valves. One of them is on/off for the dual RO/DI. The others are set up to open either the RODI or Saltwater storage bins to the return pump.

------------------------------ Free / PIF --------------------------------

I have a large amount of bleached and cleaned (by me) dry rock that was given to me by TFP and Lanxang.

I also have multiple corals that were given to me by several people, mostly SPS.

I will find good homes for these when the time is right, and of course they will be paid forward just like I received them.

----------------------------- What Else ??? ------------------------------
Man... that was a lot of work. I probably have some other things that I'll think of. I will be starting a separate thread for the livestock. I'm not hot on the idea of selling livestock with the tank unless potential buyer has a large QT system that can accept it.

Just a reminder that due to the large amount of stuff here I'm gauging interest at this point. Please do not contact me about parting out unless you're interested in everything under one of the above --- headings ----. If you are interested in all or one of the main chunks of this please PM me and we'll discuss what your interested in. If you have questions about anything above please post in this thread so everyone can see the question / answer.

Yikes... I hope that covers it!

Good luck jacob. If this offer was towards the end of the year I would had an offer for you BUT the Fiancé won't allow large purchases before the wedding. I read your build thread you put a lot of work into it sad to see it go.

Thanks guys.

I forgot to mention that the tank is also drilled for a closed loop, I believe 1 1/2" bulkheads. I'm not using a closed loop but one could be easily setup using one of the spare pumps included with the package. Right now the bulkheads are capped.

Jake, I hope the sale goes smoothly. The breaks I have taken were more than worth it. If you think of it let me know when you list your fish. Thanks

Few updates...

First, let me apologize for any confusion on splitting this up. I'm only considering splitting this into the big chunks defined by each of the --- headings --- below. I have worked up pricing on each of these by taking the new retail cost (using Marine Depot, Premium Aquatics, etc... as reference) and roughly cutting it in half.

--- Main Tank --- $6240 (46% of new cost)

--- Quarantine Tank --- $340 (48% of new cost)

--- Water Treatment --- $640 (57% of new cost)

Total of above: $6200, new retail value is over $13,000!
For anyone looking to buy the entire setup I will knock off another $400. For $5800 out the door you get it all, including my help to move it and consult on setup if you want. If you can live with the tank as is and don't need me to spot polish it I'll knock off another $200 just for saving me some time.

------------------------------ Free / PIF --------------------------------
- The dry rock is spoken for. Vince will get a few pieces, Lak will get the rest.
- All of the SPS is tenatively spoken for by Ed

------------------------------ Livestock --------------------------------
- Josh G is inline for the fish, details to be worked out later
- Bryan (Fishnerd) is inline for soft corals, details to be worked out later

I updated the equipment list to include a few things that I forgot. Will post below in a second...

~ (1) or two if I can find them both, UHMW acrylic algae scrapers. These were sent to me as a courtesy from James at Envision Acrylics. They will not scratch the tank unless you do something dumb like I did and trap a baby snail between the scraper and tank panel. Will also toss in a Mr. Clean magic eraser which works great and is acrylic safe.

~ Micromesh arcylic polishing kit. The best kit you can get. This is the one that James from Envision acrylic recommended to me and the one I'll use to touch up the tank.

If I could win the lotto to pay my student loans off and buy this tank. Your setup is very unique and seriously a work of near perfection. Good luck with your sale Jake.

great price on the setup but unfortunately in this crappy economy more than likely youll have to part everything out

Thank you Ryan. Although it's hardly perfection I have put a lot of thought and energy into it. For the right person this could save quite a bit of cash on a large system setup.

Jacob, let me know what's left of the livestock after Josh is done. I'm very interested in the Anthias if it's still available.

No problem Vince...

Just so you guys know, I have not really listed the livestock for sale yet. I'm not going to sell any fish or corals until it looks like the setup, or most of it has a buyer/s. I'm going to keep the tank running and enjoy while I have it. I'm not in a hurry to break this down and I don't care if it's sometime next year that I finally find a home for it :)

I just want to be up front about that so people can be "in line" but there is no working time table here and nobody is committed to anything.

bump for a nice setup for those who have been on the fence about whether to build 'the big one' and have been waiting for the right tank setup to become available ... here it is!

Scott
