Unusual Ocellaris

I have an importer buddy who saves wierd fish for me and this is what he gave me the other day. I have had the little fellow in QT but he shows no signs of disease or ill health. Every other fish with him was a normal orange Ocellaris and I looked at them the seemed healthy and brightly colored.

1 other thing is this guy is missign the clear parts of his fins on his tail and pecs. There is no sign they where ever there.

Just looking for any input what you guys think of a fish like this?

yea it does.

I thought B&W Occy's only come from australia and only come from other B&W's are there sometimes black O's from orange broodstock?

I am wondering if having black coloring is like having blue eyes in human. So if the parents both had the recessive trait for being black would have some black offspring. If I remember that gene table correctly, it would be 25% black 75% orange if both parents had the recessive black trait.

I have no idea if the above is correct, at least in the sense of how O's being black is determined.

I see fish like this from time to time.It happens for two reasons.First it will happen due to water quality.High amounts of ammonia will burn the fins followed by a secondary bacterial infection. The fin and tail rot is what will do the most damage. If the infection is limited to the tail, the other fins will not not show any sign. The second reason is genetic.I have seen this "missing tail" even when no other fish in the clutch were affected. I hope this helps.
