Update of my 20H

AHHH! that tank looks so much better with sand!!!!! I was thinking about switching to BB when I drilled my 20H...but after looking at yours... forget that!

I also agree a 14K bulb would do wonders for your coral color! They need some sort of actinics. Also what is your MG? My SPS get dull when my MG starts to drop.

Jov, I'm don't know what my MG levels were, sorry.

Yeah actually considering there was really little coralline growing (unless you scrape it) Mg might have been a problem.

I started off with 3 lbs of LR and 30 lbs of base rock. Coraline was growing, but I started with so little that it dosn't grow very well.. Also IME coraline dosn't grow very well in high intensity lighting. I actually had a butt load of coraline on the starboard, but only in the shaded areas.

Yea I was following your thread from the sps one in the beginning. All base rock except like a pinky size piece of live rock.

Definatly test your Magnesium! you'd be suprized at how much that can effect the color of your corals!

cool fish i had to get rid of mine after 2 years because he became the king of the tank but really cool fish

Here's the FTS with the new light (Phoenix 14k)

My corals seem to be doing MUCH better now. The Bonsai is regaining it's purple and the Purple Digi, which browned after I got it in my tank, is turning a realy nice purple color on the PE, hopefully the base will turn purple also.

Everything is changing in color to what it once was when I bought them.

It's still too soon to say anything definant, but there is definantly some changes amiss.

:D

With an Open top tank, and a sump with an open back on the stand and the fact that we keep our house at a cool 68 degrees year round, no.

Lookin good! The 14k looks much more blue and less yellow than the 10k. You'll find that the phoenix will burn in after about 3 weeks and it will look more of an ice-white color.

Really like what you've done with so little space. Good aquascaping with the rocks and you have the frags placed at good places with not much crowding.

Please post more pics of the corals under the 14k bulbs.
