Alex - What? You haven't setup your aggresive FOWLR tank yet? Man, you are behind!

Scott

hey scott, i know ive got some catching up to do. once i get the FOWLR ill setup my aggressive freshwater cichlid tank

I don't think there is a specific date set yet for the opening of Ocean Treasures. "A few weeks, but close" is what I was told. They are still working on finishing up the construction inside and dealing with getting the place staffed properly. They are looking for workers with all types of experience now.

I saw the set up inside and it looks very nice. different type of store set up with three large open-top, bull-nose tanks among others. Sweet looking filtration room in the basement too.

Another newer store in SF is Fish Fish and More Fish on Lombard.

i dropped by great bay on sunday. not much stuff since the setup is pretty new but the store itself looks pretty impressive and really clean..sort of like aquatic gallery. it will be interesting to see how all that woodwork and carpet holds up over time.

they did have a mystery wrasse for $160 i think.

so far it looks like another store ill be dropping by when im itching to buy some tangs.

anyone else see anything at the LFS's worth checking out?

i also checked out alameda aquatics and picked up a cheap yellow scopa for $17 to add to my zebrasoma collection of 2 purples, 1black, 1black/scopas hybrid, 1 yellow/scopas hybrid. hoping the latest yellow hybrid will get along with these bullies..haha

Has anybody swung by Fish Fish & More Fish on Lombard? The only references I can find on the web are on directories and such...are they open? I'm going to try swinging by there tonight or tomorrow...

It kills me because I used to live about 5 doors over from that location a year ago. That would've been awesome...and probably bad at the same time since I would've been going there everyday and probably losing my job.

If you do a search (I suggest using the word lombard), you'll find a couple of threads on them.

I've never been there.

Best of luck,

Roy

... just there. Pretty decent. Nice fish selection. Way over-priced on some things though ($25 for a cleaner shrimp that goes for $16 everywhere else?). It is in the marina, so you'd kind of expect that.
Checked out the new place on Duboce. Not much inventory yet, but the set-up is tops.
I kinda like the place on Ocean, personally.

About the cleaner shrimp.. Look like the price has gonna recently or something. I need couple of them and the ones I check out want $20-$25 each.

Just a newbie... but been checking out the stores in SF.

I've been to Ocean Treasures a few times (on Duboce). Ian was very helpful. They haven't officially opened, but they are open... Seems like a nice store with some friendly staff. They are still looking for additional staff. So, you might have to wait a little if it's busy. They give a BAR discount if you ask for it. I think the official opening is in about a month.

Been to Fish, Fish, more fish. Seems like some nice displays. Prices look a little high. I've stopped in a few times, but they haven't ever asked if I could be helped or have any questions.

I live down in the Marina, but still trek across town to Lucky Ocean on Balboa (Steve) or Ocean Treaures for my stuff so far. He also gives a BAR discount.

Yeah I like Aquatic central as well... FF&MF does have some really nice looking specimens and tanks.. Parking does suck though.. but the 3 anthias I got from them are all healthy and survive easily through an ich bout brought by a NASO tank that did not survive...
