Update on my Angel.....

Hello all. Well I moved my display into the new house 2 weeks ago and everyone is doing great, except my Coris gaimard disappeared. I wasm worried about that because of their tendency to disappear when spooked. Anyway about a month before moving I got a Blue Spot Angel that is about 3 1/2". After posting my new addition some made me aware of the fact that these fish are only collected in Indonesia and the chances of the fish being caught with cyanide were high. This really bummed me out. So now it has been almost 2 months and fish is doing great and putting on weight. Does anyone know how long it takes for a fish caught via cyanide to show signs or die because of it? Here are some new pics of the angel. Has become my favorite. T

I'd think he'd be okay after 2 months. My BSA from DD is doing great, growing, and gaining weight. I've had it since about the middle of December.

Sorry my bad. Well there is still reason for concern if the fish are only found in that area. Really love this guy. Wonder why they aren't offered more frequently? T

It's been my experience that cyanide usually is appearant within the first 24-72 hours of receiving fish from overseas.

What is the wrasse in your picture now myerst? Absolutely stunning. Nice angel btw too :D

as controversial as this may sound in my experience fish caught with cyanide are very unpredictable if the cyanide is in the fishes system it can suffer over a day or just one day a year later die mysteriously

As far as I know (please correct me if I am wrong) that cyanide destroys the wall of the stomach. Therefore your fish will eat but will perish due to an inability to process the food / nutrients. Therefore, if your fish is gaining weight you should be fine.

Its been many many years since I was receiving fish from overseas. Typically they didn't ship well, or had obvious neurological problems.

Thanks all. Really happy he is doing well. Almost like having my dream Conspic. Some day...:)

Abstract
Three new species of the labrid genus Paracheilinus are described from Indonesia and offshore reefs of north-western Australia. Paracheilinus cyaneus, new species, is described from two specimens, 48.7-52.2 mm SL, collected at the beggai Islands, Sulawesi. It is distinguished from other members of the genus by a consistently higher number of elongate dorsal filaments and colour pattern, particularly that of displaying males, which have iridescent blue over most of the head, back, and dorsal fin, in addition to bright red dorsal filaments. Paracheilinus flavianalis, new species, is described from 20 specimens, 20.2-53.0 mm SL, collected at Bali Indonesia and Scott-Seringapatam reefs, Western Australia. Males of P. flavianalis have a yellow anal fin, whereas in the closely related P. maccoskeri this fin is deep red on the outer two-thirds and yellow basally, the two colours being separated by a violet band. Males of P. flavianalis also different in having a distinctive dark red mark at the middle of the outer part of the dorsal fin, which encompasses the first three soft dorsal rays (at least one of these forms a long filament). Paracheilinus togeanensis, new species, is described from a single specimen, 47.8 mm SL, collected at the Togean Islands, northern Sulawesi. It is distinguished by colour pattern, a lack of dorsal fin filaments, a lunate caudal fin, and rounded posterior profile of the dorsal fin.

I had a chance at one of these fish yesterday, it was stunning but flicking, highgill rate and had ich, too much to risk.
I would get one if I could find a healthey one, did it eat well from the start I hear they can be tricky.

It ate brine shrimp at the LFS, which means absolutely nothing to me. Took one day and within 5 days it was eating NLS pellets and everything I put in the tank. T
