Update on my tank that "had" ich

There is no telling what is going to happen with your fish and the ich. If you want to be sure to completely eradicate your display of this parasite, you have to remove all the fishes and treat them while keeping the display fishless for 4-6 weeks so the parasites all die.

Well the cloudy eye went away today. I saw no signs of it at all. All eyes looked clear. As for the ich, I am sorry but I am just going wait it out. If my fish start showing ill signs I will remove them but up till now they are staying. Why fix something when its not broken?

Steven I still understand your logic and I acknowledge that I am taking a risk but I am going for it.

Ich is a tough sickness. You know, there are so many conflicting ideas on it just go with what you think is best and keep us posted.

Yeah, me either. And believe me, I have been wrong a lot!! This is a difficult hobby that even catch the experts off guard!! My opinion is go with what you know and what you have had success with. Thanks to Steven Pro, Tangdiver, and everyone else that contributed to this, I respect your knowledge and say thanks to all who have helped!! Good luck 55semireef and keep us posted as to the status of the tank!!

If the cloudy eye comes back it is likely ich, the petco you got your fish from just got over the ich problem in their tanks so they said, but they only had their tanks shut down for two days which is way to short of a time period. But hopefully all should go well. And good luck.

I would also like to chime in and just say steven pro knows a thing or two about saltwater fish problems and is just not shooting in the dark. Thank you steven pro for helping me set up my qt and it was a wise decesion on my part to set one up, once again thank you steven.

The cloudy eye is gone as I said earlier. Bluecarpet, the clarkiis overall were in great health and definately did not have ich. Not all Petcos are bad necessarily.

If it hasn't been 4 weeks since you bought those fish, then you don't really know if they are carrying a parasite or not.

If you had the earliest stage of infestation, you may not have any idea until weeks later when it showed up. I learned this the hard way myself, and have diligently used a QT since. It is the cheapest and most effective insurance you could ever use.

Ich can be found at even the very best LFS, but some stores are especially bad.

All i know is that the one you got them from had an ich outbreak in their system and had it shut down for just 2 days. I hope all goes well for you though, and wish you the best of luck, you should really set up a qt, steven pro will def lead you in the right direction. Two things are for sure in this hobby, a lot of time and money is spent on this hobby and it is best to do things right and one of them is setting up a qt.

Steve helped us through our ich battle and was patient enough to make a believer of me when it comes to this parasite.
I do grow tired of trying to explain what he taught us to others, he has the patience of a saint.
I will share this, one of my favorite things is stress causes ich. We had a LFS owner recently post on a local board here that you could take any tank and expose it to temp swings or ph swings, even tap on the glass enough and you WOULD get ich.

LOLOLOLOL

Well after Steve walked us through hypo fallow with our 90 gallon. We met Miss Katrina in new orleans. Our fish went two weeks in a 90 gallon tank with nothing but bubblers in 90 degree heat. They were tossed and turned for the next month in and out of buckets and small tanks while we moved to Dallas. Those were some VERY stressed fish.
They did not get ich
And as a proud student I think I can say with confidence that that it was due to the fact that there was no ich for them to have.

Some stores also claim that since their fish have been in "QT" for two weeks and then put in the display tanks they are disease free which is totally horse bunk. What they usually do is keep throwing this shipment of fish in with that shipment of fish that's already been in their "QT" so what you have is absolutely NO QUARANTINE at all. This is why you should do your own QT when you get the fish, etc. home before adding to your main display.
