I was looking at the RD pumps just for a sump return , i need about 1000GPH to about 6' head pressure which one you recommend.

If you run out of table room for the 14 people you are having over for Thanksgiving, disconnect your BK and I'm sure that could seat another 3-4 people.

It's a thought to ponder. After all, Naga uses his as a table....I think 2 more just got added to the list....

I gotta get out of work and get to cookin'....

This is an 8 foot tank isnt it???

this is going to be awsome!

BTW: love the Purple Tangs... where did you get them ONLINE or LFS?

good luck!

10'x3'x2' tank

Neither online or LFS. Remember, I live in L.A. ALL the wholesalers are here.

CA reactor? If I really need one than probably the Deltec. I like the whole fluidized idea.

That being said, I'm hoping the kalkreactor is all I need (Barraquatic unit on order...).

CA reactors bug me.

Just so you know, you will have to add/dose a few things like Iodine, strontium, and Mg frequently. Having my kalk reactor add about 10-12g of kalk daily took care of my dkh and Ca needs, but it was obvious the other things from the Ca reactor breakdown of the media were missing. I had to top off things frequently, which is hard to gauge to begin with. Just keep it in mind.

You are probably going to find like I did that with this much evaporation it will be a long while before you actually need a Ca reactor.

Can you recommend any decent products with these things in mind? I'm only going to be running kalk for at least 4 months so want to get a good balance.

Well my kalk reactor from barraquatics is supposed to arrive today. I dunno exactly how much evap, but it seems like a pretty good amount.

Alberto, are you formally testing your Mg and Iodine? I have heard from some that strontium isn't really ever lacking, yet others say that it's particularly important for clams (which are DEFINITELY on the stocking list whereas sps may not be).

And like Laurence, I'm also interested in which products you are using to supplement.

As of yet there is nothing other than algae photosynthetic in the tank. Just some fish and cleaner shrimp to break the thing in. The purple tangs, some green chromis and some PJ cardinals--the Hawaiian cleaner died (predictable I know) as did one purple tang and one PJ cardinal has a bad tail (something got it) so I dunno it's gonna make it. Otherwise my biggest problem is that the green chromis keep going over the overflows into the sump where they evade my netting attempts. So about half of 'em live in the sump now and half in the tank.

There ar emany brands that will probably work the same. Warner Marine stuff seems to be pretty good, Kent stuff and ESV stuff is good also.

You may not have to dose anything if you are doing frequent water changes as some of these things don't get used up rapidly. I still would test and dose Iodine and Mg for sure. Strontium is up to you really.

Yeah I'm trying to get an arrangement for fairly painless 50g water changes.

Well, I'll stay on top of it. I like Warner as well.

I know you like the best of everything:) Like me:) I would suggest ESV products or Tropic Marine.

Here you go Nick:
Barraquatic Kalkreactor. Great build, works silently. The only downside, the design is not made for pressure, so I had to put a valve on my RO unit (granted it's a 700gpd unit) to keep from overflowing it.

Makeshift lighting. Amazing what 2x4's are good for

Wow, its amazing how bright it is right below those MHs. i think 3 of them will do!

Wish i lived in LA, you come by all the nice small fish. What i wouldnt give for a selection like you have. It would be nice to get small fish like you have and watch them grow up over the years.

Have you tried any corals yet? any luck if you have?

When is the goldflake going in?

Nick

Only one MH is on in that pix.

The Goldflake will go in after I do a water change and I completely happy with things.

No corals. The lights are coming down soon again b/c I need to work on the light baffle.
