Chuck, that skimmer looks like it's in an ICU unit! I hope that's an old picture before your electrical was finalized ;)

Uh....no comment...lets just say the electrical hasn't been finalized....

Chuck, is it worth the $$?

Easy answer is yes. It's an awesome skimmer. However, is ANY skimmer really worth than chunk of change? I dunno....

Yes it IS tomorrow, but I DO have to work....

More so than the Deltec? I am debating on what to get as my next "toy".

well here's the thing Pierce....with a large deltec you get the possiblity of the self cleaning head option which is simply too cool. In my setup though I couldn't stick even an AP703 with a SCH in there and actually be able to get at the thing. As you can see in the pix things are tight. So the BK excels at one, foam production, two silence, and three electrical effeciency (the killawatt numbers are to die for).

The Deltec is better supported (lets face facts, as responsive as captiveoceans is, there are some serious parts availability issues for royalexclusiv in the US--granted there isn't much to "break" on a skimmer with a titanium needlewheel). There are also IMO some design issues with the unit--ie I think the plumbing should go out the sides instead of the bottom (makes for a unit that has about 2" of height that doesn't "skim") and the dual outlet is silly IMO.

But inthe end, the thing skims man. I mean it really, really skims....

camera charging....I'm going out to a holiday bash. If the lights are still on when I get back there'll be some eye candy here.

Looks good Chuck!

what type of butterflies are those? did you get more than 3 or is that it?

hows the goldflake been doing?

Nick

Tinkeri. 3 is about all the budget could tolerate.

Luis, the 702 went to a dude that bought/pickedup with the SCH and all.

Goldie is doing just fine. I considered a juvi to go with him/her (beats me), but I've heard that the juvis don't do well.

Darn...I guess you new where I was going with that inquiry! Still working on the DIY version...looking very promising.

Going thru some "BK envy" this holiday season...thanks! Your 400 is a thing of beauty. (Don't tell Doug I said that!)

The BK IS a thing of beauty...the pump is really the thing (yeah the skimmer is made really nice and all, but it's really about the pump). I prefer the overall "configuration" of a Deltec better (in terms of where the pumps are placed and the in/outlets), but the BK does not dissapoint.

tinkeri's are bulletproof. they are pricey b/c they are deep water and they need to be decompressed appropriately (they'll be DOA at the wholesaler otherwise). Similar to the Burgess, Declivis, Mitratus etc... These dudes were eating immeadiately. Frozen mysis and cyclopseeze.

Next? juvi regals if I can find 'em. That's it. Nothing else sizable. It's crowded. As the purple tangs grow up, they're gonna have to find new homes. The other fish will be fine...

If I find some interesting fairy wrasses I may give 'em a try and if these pipefish do well I'll slowly add more of those (they're REALLY cool)

How many regals would you ideally like to add? 2-3?

there are some real nice fairy wrasses out there, i miss the ones i had.

i am intrested to see how the pipefish do also. They are really cool, i have seen a couple and was tempted to buy them.

Nick
