Updating Apex Firmware on a Mac

I just hooked up two more EB8's (total of 3). When I did this I noticed both new EB8's needed firmware updates. I was able to update both of them from the controller and now all EB8's and all my modules are reading (OK).

Now my 'problem' is that I noticed my aquacontroller firmware is old. Version 4.03_6A10

I have read a lot of info on updating my firmware and honestly it reads like jibberish to me. I am not a programmer at all. I am grasping programming the apex outlets but the firmware upgrade is scary as hell.

Can someone talk me off the ledge here? Any advice for me? Can Neptune update the apex over telnet?

Finally....my apex is hard wired to my router. My computer talks wirelessly to my router. If I attempt an update using my computer is that considered bad? (from all I have read you can't do the update wirelessly...)

Thanks in advance.

It's OK if your PC is wireless, it's just that the Apex can't be wireless and update the firmware.

You should try the firmware update and see how it goes. Might be fine. This is an ongoing process so you'll have to do it sooner or later. Neptune is constantly improving functionality and fixing bugs via firmware updates. Plenty of support here if you have a problem.

I would be very careful about updating firmware from a computer that's on a wireless connection. I thought I bricked my Apex doing this when the firmware became corrupted during the load process. I think it's worth mentioning, my Apex has been hardwired from day 1. Curt walked me thru recovering it and I restored my program and started over with the firmware upgrade process. I will never do the upgrade again over a wireless connection. IMO, it's too risky.

PotRoast,
Is there a way that you can plug your Mac directly into your router?

FWIW, I've upgraded firmware, downgraded firmware, and in general have played around extensively with the firmware load process. I might change firmware versions several times over the course of just one evening while developing updated software for my Reeftronics web site in order to verify compatibility with both older and newer Apex code. Not once have I had a failure when my computer was on a wireless network connection.
