Upgrade Ecotech MP10w to QuiteDrive

Hey Guys!
I will upgrade my Vortech Ecosmart MP10 to QuiteDrive MP10, because loudness is horrible!

First i need 3 QuiteDrive Controller.
And two of my dry Side Motors are extreme loud, so i have to change the Motor Side too!

So is the dry side the same for MP10 and MP10qd?
Or is there a special dry Side for MP10qD?

Many Thanks & BR
Robert

Yea, you must have some other issues going on. I changed my mp10wes to a ad driver and there was really minimal difference.

Also you may need to change the wetsides. I upgraded 2 mp10's and the wetsides would decouple when starting the pump on both pumps. The wetsides would work fine on the WES comtrollers but not the QD comtrollers. I tried them back in the WES controllers to check. I had to buy 2 wetside to solve the issue. Unfortunately I had recently replace one of the wetsides. So far It has been almost a year on the new wetsides without the decoupling issue.

Thank you very much! Great!

The noises came 100% from Motorside. Maybe i habe to change the Bearing. I have 3 ES and 1 QD. The QD is very silent, but the other 3 ES are awful!

My wife will leave the living room, leave the House and run away out of our life, if i dont repair these Issues! :-)

Also good to know to check the wetsides.

+1

I have a brand new MP10wqd and a 3 yrs old MP10wes, and there's very little, if any, audible differences between them. Even the fan noise from my LED can mask the sound from those pumps quite well.

Yes. I've heard that, some are quiet and some not so quiet - but MY noise is louder than Highway-Traffic. I have to change the Bearings too.

Sorry to hear that. My 4yrs old MP40wes is the same. The sound was unbearable even at 50% power. I had to take it off line.

I guess that's one of the problems with vortech pumps. Its the disadvantage of having the motor outside......any motor/gear noise generated will be heard. None of my 5yrs+ el-cheapo koralia pumps has any audible noises.

I have 4 MP10 in my Tank and a Battery Backup. So i dont wanne make a full change to Tunze, Rossmont ... whatever. And i like that there is no cable to see in the Maintank.
So i try to fix the Issues.

Yes it sounds like the bearing a toast in the dry side. I have the same issue in one of my mp10s. Send it in too Ecotech and they will repair it. I think opening the dry side yourself will void the warranty.

all my 4 MP10 are second Hand, so no Problem for self opening.
And was your repair/Bearing change succesfull?

I ordered today these 4 Bearings: ceramics / hybrid / miniature deep groove ball bearing SS C 687 ZZ 7x14x5 mm

Here is my Tank - small one, only 33 Gallons. The 4 MP10 works really fine in there - and no Cable, thats really a big plus on Vortech.

Noisy dryside may also be because it wasn't kept dry. I had a MP10 that got very noisy and upon disassembly noted that there was quite a bit of rust on the motor windings that was causing the noise. Bearings turned out to be fine.

Awesome tank!

Be careful changing out the bearings. It's easy, just take your time. They'll continue to give you years of wire free service!
