Upgrade to ~300g In-Wall

The tank is gorgeous. I love the sand space. I'm a fan of tonga branch mixed I the rock. It gives life to swimming space as well as space for sps corals up top or at the bottom to middle mushrooms or zoas. It doesn't take up sand space.

Lots of exposed wood in the fishroom. Really should be painted/sealed before the humidity gets much higher in there.

Dave--the stand where the sump sits has several coats of poly on it. Are you referring to the beams in the ceiling? There will be a commercial dehumidifier in the basement which will help have a vent in the fish room.

With that do you think its still necessary to coat the ceiling beams?

I was looking at the stand, wall studs and plywood. If you're saying they're all sealed with polyurethane then obviously it's no problem.

I REALLY like the rock work. This will be a great build to follow. Where is the skimmer going to be placed?? Between sump and display stand?

Thanks!

Skimmer will stay on the shelf (where it is now) a long with reactors. All fed by manifold run by the panworld pump

Hey i really dig the rockwork.. One thing to consider though is the 5:3 ratio of the 2 islands placement and size

your measurements of 75x30x24 come out to 233 gallons, not 300. do you mean 300 total water volume?

Just realized I miss-typed in the first post the dimensions of the tank are 75 x 30 x 27. Which is still a little under 300g. However the sump has at least 100g in it.

Thanks. I was considering adding some more rock to the left side and maybe going a little higher.

Curious to what you mean by placement?

Not so much the placement, more what you already are considering to make the left side a bit bigger to give a 5:3 ratio :) Looks awsome as is though imo but something to consider.

Broke down the old tank and transferred fish and a few of the corals that made it. Didn't have a lot of time but had to be done so that basement renovations can continue.

All the electrical will be far more organized just had to quickly set up the apex and the litermeter for auto top.

Small hiccup that came about during the transfer. The iwaki 70 rlt from the old tank which as you can see from the above pic is now running the return for the new display. Is obnoxiously loud. I took it apart..cleaned it and its still noisy (not just the fan). Looking into new pumps

I would consider the new EcoTech Vectra pump. I think it would might be a hit in the wallet but I would almost guarantee you would be satisfied with the purchase.

Ended ordering the new EcoTech Vectra pump (Vectra L1 DC). Was convinced after reading the reviews

what lights are you going with?

Going to try something different combining the 3 Orphek Atlantiks I have from my old tank with 4 T5 strips to add some more blue lighting. Rough sketch of the light rack below.
