Thanks for continuing to check for us. I really do appreciate the effort on your part.

Here's how I feel this is going to play out... They will hold off on selling the upgrade for at least six months so that they can sell the new model to those who just can't wait. Then, when sales drop they will offer an upgrade kit for probably 40% of the cost for a new skimmer. Smart business move, but crappy for the consumer.

are they out of stock!? wow. got mine last week, must say, I am fairly impressed for a HOB. still breaking in a bit, but definitely a quality build.

Delivery got pushed back, but we are still shooting for next week. We'll be able to fulfill most of our backordered AquaMaxx skimmers as soon as they get here... when they get here. Not quite yet. Our buyers while adjust the button on the product page to accept orders/backorders if the next shipment is set to arrive in a relatively short amount of time... which it appears so: we have a few PO's already pending with AquaMaxx. So it appears like we will begin accepting orders again soon, I just don't have a precise date to provide you at the moment. Sorry about that!

It turns out only the collection cup from the new design can be used with the old design, so that's all we're bringing aboard for the time being.

It could be online as early as this week. I just reminded our product and media guy so he's going to shoot a photo for the site today.

How is the bubble reactor not compatible? If the whole reactor had to be replaced it fits onto the same pump outlet?

I personally haven't tried replacing the bubble plate in the old HOB-1 with one of the new ones with the conical diffusers. My response earlier was based on an email AquaMaxx sent February 5 which stated the bubble plate cannot be upgraded, only the collection cup can. :reading:

We are anticipating a delivery of more HOB-1's (among other AquaMaxx products) next Friday, 5/16. Our fingers are crossed they'll be here!

It's been about 6 months since the upgraded design came out now.
Any word on compatibility of the new diffuser cap?
One last thing, I see that you guys have a replacement collection cup available on your website. The picture looks like the original. Is there any way to verify that the one you are selling is in fact the re-designed style?

Unfortunately, AquaMaxx will not be offering the diffuser cap/bubble plate for sale separately, so an upgrade is not available.

As for the collection cups, we are currently sold out. All the collection cups we will receive will be the new style.

Thanks for the response. After speaking with one of CS reps, he said that he did not notice a difference between the two as far as efficiency. That was enough for me to no longer pursue the mods. I will hold off until this one gives up on me.

It still looks pretty cool though and I want it. hahaha
