upgraded my lighting.. concerned about my clams

Hi,
I have just upgraded from an old single 250W MH bulb to two brand new 250W 10K ventures.

What signs should I look for to see if my clams are getting stressed.

They are 4" from the top of the water and about 8" from the bulbs.

Thanks
Cam

I wouldn't be too concerned. Unlike corals, clams have the ability to self acclimate to a certain degree, they can shut up shop if they are recieving too much light. Over the years I have switched and changed between all sorts of lighting setups and have never acclimated them.

Clams are a bit tricky hard to tell when there stresed....but Im sure they will love the new light...are they croacias and maximas, those are two of the more light demanding species.....

Hi,
Thanks for the replies.
So far they look like they are doing well.
They are a Crocea and a squamosa.

I was wondering if I could move them down to the bottom of the tank. They look much better from that angle and also would be easier to see rather than being way up on top of the rock.

Do you think I have enough light for the Crocea at the bottom ?
It's a 24" tall tank but I have a 5" DSB plus some rock that they would be on. So that would be probably 20" from the bulbs and 16" from the top of the water.

Thanks again for the help

Thanks.
I am going to make a place for them this week and then move them.
I am very pleased with the new lighting.
After a few days my acros are all doing great...

Thanks again for all you help
