Upgrading a cheap RO unit

About a year and a half ago, I purchased a 100 gpd RO/DI unit from Filter Direct. I want to upgrade the membrane. I purchased a Kent Marine 60 gpd Hi-S membrane and a flow restrictor. Will this work in my current unit? And if so, where do I install the flow restrictor? I couldn't locate one on my current unit.

Any help would be greatly appreciated.

The FD probably has a capillary type flow restrictor. Disconnect the lines and look inside for a small piece of stuff shoved inside one of them. Its a cheap cut to fit restrictor that restricts based on how long it is or how short you have trimmed it.

I upgraded my FD unit. The Flow restrictor was not as described above. It is a flow restrictor about 5" long sort of has 3 sections. There is a marking that says "Flow 550" with an arrow. Another label on it says "Drain"

Watergeneral is the company that actully makes the FD unit I bought. Here is a pic from the Water General website

FWIW, I replaced the 100 GPD membrane with a 75 GPD Dow Filmtek. Both produced a TDS of 4. No difference in my case

Ok, So I just replace the membrane, discard the factory flow restrictor, then install the restrictor I bought into the drain line? Thanks for the help.
