Upgrading and would like some advice

I will be upgrading to a 75 in the next 2 weeks and would just like a little help. My 75 will be going in the exact same spot as the 55, so what would be the best way? What containers would you suggest? Can I use rubbermaid totes as opposed to the brute that I mix my water in? After draining and removing rock/coral to another container should I put some rocks in with the fish or will they be ok w/o rocks and just a ph and heater? I plan on putting back about 30 gallons into the new tank with new argonite sand, but how long do my fish/coral have to be before acclimating to the new tank? Thanks in advance and here is a ok pic of my current tank.

This shouldn't be a difficult move other than the time needed to do it. I'd put all your livestock into a suitably sized container...the kinds you've mentioned are fine, but if they're new just rince them off well with fresh water. Put the livestock including all the fish, etc. into a container with the live rock from your 55, and then put the rest of the water into other containers. You can use any Rubbermaids or the kind of pails that salt-mixes come in. They sell empty ones at Home Depot, and stores like that.

Once all that's done, put the 75-gallon tank in its place....put your new substrate in and put the water from the 55 into it. Then put the live rock, water and livestock that you've been holding into the tank. Top off the tank with newly mixed saltwater using RO/DI water for the source water.

I'd bet that other than some cloudiness that you'd, no doubt, experience, there wouldn't be any problems and you won't even undergo any cycle.

I just helped my parents upgrade their 55 to a 75 a few months ago. we just used some rubbermade totes and put everything in together. that had worked fine. I dont think we even lost a hermit crab

Avi's dead on! Just remember to have a little circulation and a heater in the rubbermaids to keep things stable and reduce stress on fish.
