Hello all I have a 75g with 29g sump. I am currently running a sea clone but the misses gave me permission to upgrade within reason. I have read and read about skimmers and boy am I stuck. I have narrowed it down i think and was wonder about input on few of these. All of these should fit in my sump but some might be a little of a tight fit. the reef octopus for 179 is smallest aquarium rated at 100g but from what I have read appears to be best. thanks ahead of time. One more note its about 85-90g total syatem volume

sc150 $120On ebay I know there is thread on this one here

asm g1 $264

aquamax am150$270

Reef Octopus 4 (100 Gallon) In Sump Needle Wheel Protein Skimmer w/ Bubble Plate $179

Reef Octopus 4 (125 Gallon) Recirculating Protein Skimmer $199

My system is almost like your size, and I got the SWC 160 cone. Million thanks to the person who helped me to get this beast, I love it !

What about octopus xp1000sss that is what I am considering for my 75 gallon build.
currently using aqua c urchin on my 37 gallon fowlr.

How about the new cadlights cone skimmers? The footprint is pretty reasonable and it has the bonus of being all acrylic instead of molded plastic. As an extra bonus they are based in the US and have great customer service.

I will look into that one calcuta.A little out of budget but might have no choice. Any one able to chime in on the ones I listed. And thanks master I buy american whenever I can find adequate product I will look into them.

american? then look into reef dynamics

good solid skimmers

The Cadlights skimmers are getting some good reviews but I doubt Eddie @ Cad is manufacturing them here.

The NAC7 would be a good reasonable budget choice

Others;

a little pricier

seaside aquatics CS1

RO (diablo) xs 160

RO sump saver XP1000sss

Aquamaxx is a good choice but bigger footprint since pump is outside the body

JNS line

Warner Marine MF series-121 or 161 (Pacific east aquaculture)

Ya! Couldn't hurt to ask. Eddie is a cool guy.
I'm still pretty sure they are imported from china though. Could be wrong though.

If you can't contact him by phone then shoot him an email on the cad site.

Happy reefing

I will call them there website says made in good ole USA. thought they couldn't do that if they weren't. BTW I am not an overseas hater just that when I feel I can same a neighbors job then i do what I can.

I have a Reef Octopus Extreme 160 Cone that I love but for $120 I would snatch up that SWC and I'd be happy about it. That sucker would be a beast for your setup.:twitch:

That is for the sc150 not swc lol. If they are the same thing then thats what I will go with I dont know enough about modern skimmers to have I clue. like I said I am still using a seaclone.
