UPS......not the brown kind

Was there a thread on UPS a while back? If not, is there a fishnerd stamped with a seal of approval for a manufacturer or brand?

In a perfect world, I would like my mag 7 and heater/controller on one for up to 12 hours, but I figure its too much to ask for. Right?

I'm UPS stupid and don't want to have to buy 2 or 3 to get it right.

TIA, this is for my little box I am going to build and want to know how much room I will need.

Or don't some use an inverter and a motorcycle battery? I hate apartments, if I didn't live in one.....I would have a generator and an extension cord.....DONE!!

You will not get one to control your return pump. They work just fine to keep, in your case, a seio working for hours to keep the water moving. Just go to Office Depot and decide how much you want to spend. If you want, you could plug 2 of your 36 powerheads in, but it will only drain the battery quicker.

I've used an inverter connected to a big boat battery.

I remember some time back that someone had re-wired an APS unit to use a car battery instead of the regular internal one to prolong it's life.

I tend to make things go boom when I play with wires so maybe one of the electricians can comment on making that work. :D

Mark, I only have 19 powerheads. I am only thinking of doing it this way because lets just say for instance, and this is just hypothetical......that I go out of town one weekend and the power goes out.......at a minimum I would like some water movement.......a bonus would have the heater in the sump working, and a way to get that warm water back up to the display.

If I can't have that, I will probably get two Vortechs with the battery back up.......to make it an even 21.:p Besides, I needed another excuse to buy them.

You know you won't be able to turn them all the way up. I had them all the way up and the skin on my Cquarium started to get blown off. I did not remember if I told you about that.

Yeah I know, I want the wave driver action.......Besides trying to eliminate the bulky Seios, hopefully they will be for a new cube, which will be bigger, (42" x 42" x 24"). I am hoping with that tank only to have the two exposed Powerheads in the display with the rest comming from a CL with an OM.
