Upsidedown wrasse

thanks for the good wishes. i got home safe. but my corals and cucs were seized at the airport. but i didn't get arrested so that's good i guess :D

as for the wrasse, is there any case like medicines too strong for fish, or fish allergic to some medicines. i'm just wondering if that's the case with the head bump while looking at the pics. i wish i knew more and be more helpful. :(

Your corals were seized? They took your corals? That's horrible. That's just horrible. I can't believe that happens. Why? How can it be illegal to have a pet coral? That's horrible. Are you ever planning to move to a country that has reef stores? Really sorry they took your coral and CUC.

awww, he's a pretty little guy!

oh man, what a bummer!! sorry to see this. :(

ya. they asked me the export permits even though i told them they're for personal use. they even wanted to take away the kalkwasser bottle. i think there's a ban on exporting/importing some sps, but they didn't know anything about corals so they probably assumed all of my stuffs were on the ban list. but i'm ok guys. don't worry about it. :) i will probably move back to new york when i get a bit older. then i'll be able to have a proper reef tank.

Wrasse Update 2015
WRASSE IS BACK!

He is sassy, flighty, active, eating like a pig, and being his normal, weirdo self. He is back!
I'm keeping an eye on the strange infections and triple crossing my fingers to get them healed. For those of you playing along at home, here is the latest medical strajity:
Last night he was worse. Carefully scooped him into a breeder box for a closer inspection. There is a big wound on his head, some finage missing from his dorsal and something on his face that are possibly growths. Since I had him in the box, gave him a bath in Paragard. He tolerated it for about 30 minutes. In the meantime, changed the water in the QT and then after adding the wrasse back, changed antibiotics to Kanaplex. Reason for this is that only certain antibiotics work on certain strains of bacteria and the last type did not seem to be working. Am praying this will work and that the wrasse will finally heal.

Pyithar! You sure have a good attitude about losing your stuff. You are Mr Mellow. I hope you move back soon. But Seattle is way better than New York! You could move here instead.

This thread is like wrasse soap opera. I'm waiting for the episode where it turns out the whole was just a dream. Maybe you should get your little friend some auditions lined up. Seriously though it's great that he's getting his energy back and hopefully he stays on the road to recovery!

So there you have a little taste of how bad he was last week. The movie looks strange because it was actually a sort of test to see how bad the wrasse was. The one thing that Wrassie is seriously frightened of is the iPhone. He hates it. It's the only time he will leave food uneaten, if he sees that phone, even 3 or 4 feet away, he will race off to hide. He absolutely hates the iPhone. So while he was sick I was filming him, but also moving the phone around to get a reaction. The only way to get a picture when he's healthy is to use the zoom and to be very quick. But here, you can see he just lays there, no matter how I move the phone, he just lays there watching. This is how I figured how bad he felt, cause if he had any strength he would have hid from the phone.

and here he is as of yesterday. The secondary infections are healing up nicely and he has energy to spare, racing away from the Evil Phone. Welcome back Wrassie! :bounce1:
thanks to everyone for your input.

Good job! Have been following this and hoping he came good. He looks pretty good considering it seems like he was on deaths door!

that first video was really hard to watch but wow, what a dramatic improvement! awesome to see him now!

how long before you are gonna feel comfortable putting him in your dt?

Couple more days and he should be good to go. I can't believe he made it! Feeding him with the eggs made the difference I think. When he was too weak to eat that gave him the strength to keep going. So grateful for all the help!

that's awesome, morgan!!! are you still using the selcon? i would definitely keep that up!

i had a friend here (fish biscuit) for new year's eve. we fixed some lobster. found tons of roe in them when i cleaned them so i saved it for the fish. at first, they weren't sure what it was but one taste and it was katie bar the door, they went crazy for it!
