Creaver's in Rome is pretty good, they always have quite a bit of fish stock and 2 or 3 tanks with corals. The owner is very honest and will try to get anything you are looking for. There is a store in Utica called Aquatic Exotic on Oriskany Blvd. They used to stock corals very frequently but within the past year have not gotten anything really new in for corals. They always have a pretty decent selection of fish. Be on the look out for ich at both of the stores though. And always QT any purchases. As for the Syracuse scene I have visited Fairmount aquarium and have never really been happy making the trip. I live near Lowville NY and always feel the 2 hour drive is wasted time when I go there. They are supposed to be expanding their store though so it may change in the future. There are no stores in the Watertown area that sell salt water fish except for pet co, a big no-no. There are plenty of fish stores there but they all deal only in freshwater stuff.
I am looking to open a store in northern NY in the near future, and am still researching locations. I am thinking either Boonville, Lowville or Watertown as they are pretty close to my home. Boonville is looking like the better spot. Let me know if anyone has any input on this I am very open to suggestions during my planing phase. I want to open a store that is predominantly saltwater with some tanks for freshwater.
Also I have been looking to join a reef club in the area, do you all have meetings and if so where do you hold them? Anyone live close to me that is interested in frag trading?
