Urgent - about anemony

luamada

Love saltwater fishes...
My anemony looks like she wants to jump out of the tank. She almost got stuck in the power head, so I turned it off, but it went upon top of it and it is almost getting out of the tank. Very weird. I did a water change, and waited two hours and tested. The nitrate is about 10 and everything also is 0. The CA is 425 and the KH is 8. I do not know what also to do, but I can not turn on that power heard because the anemony is on it. Please any sugestions? thanks

Hard to tell from the picture, but it looks like a very bleached Mag. They are one of the highest light anemones, it could be climbing to get more light.

Get a new power head.

Your H. mag is bleached, so you should probably try feeding it as much as possible. How long have you had it? Did it bleach in your tank, or did you get it that way?

It is very common for these anemones to move to the highest spot possible.

now it is a the bottom again. I got it just like that. Looks beautiful now, but I am not sure what it is supposed to look like. But it went back to were it has been. I think it may have gone up there because I had to turn the poer heads and the pump off to do a water change and it was that way for about30 minutes. I think it did not like it. I will watch it tomorrow. looks really beautifull now.It looks like it got all open and the tentacles are all over. Whata picture, but it can not be captured in a picture.
How many times should I feed it? thanks for the reply. I realy got nervous.

Google "heteractis magnifica". Then click on images. You will get plenty of pics of what it should look like. It should be much darker than that.
Feed it small pieces of marine meat like fish or shrimp several times a week. Small frequent feedings are better than larger ones.
You should probably cover the intake of your power heads with foam to keep the anemone safe. They like a lot of flow, so they will be attracted to the power head.

I too purchased a Nem when it was white. Not knowing that this was very bad.
This is a picture of it when it started showing signs of recovery. Before that it was much whiter.

This is it currently. Full recovery.

Good luck with your recovery

Thank you this makes m feel much better. My is starting to look like that and is really beautiful. What and how do you feed yours?

I feed 2 -3 times a week, cut up silverside's or Krill. I will also feed with a turkey baster some mysis shrimp. Then he will also catch whatever is floating by when I feed my fish. It took a good 5 months before I saw any changes, which is the first picture I posted.

my anemony Sue, had many rocks to get, but it liked the one that is full with xenias. Is she going to kill my xenias? Should I move the rocks around? The xenias were so big and so beautiful, but I like Sue more. What do you think?
PS. How do you post photos so large?

Mine was completely white with no coloring at all when I purchased, again not knowing that this was bad. What is really sad is that a store would sell you something knowing how bad off it is. Not sure about the Zenia's may be a good question to start another post on. Mine is a Gigantea so they are actually different nems.
When I post my pictures from Photobucket I do not resize them. So that may be why they are larger. I am still learning by trail and error in my tank and on this site. :)
