URGENT- Bringing Home Octo Today

I might have to let him go later on then. He is going to get way too big for my tank. How sad :(
I posted the pictures of Doctor O. pouncing on the emerald crab, and morning I found the crab sitting on a rock, dead, and only with a couple of legs missing. Why wouldn't my octopus eat it? Did the crab put up a fight or something?

He might have just killed it because it was moving around. Maybe it didn't think it tasted good. While they are small they don't really eat that much. I'd give mine krill and it would take a few bites and be done. Now that she's big she doesn't do that, but it's not out of the ordinary for them to just kill it, take a bite, and decide to discard it instead of finish it off.

Are you sure the shell wasn't empty? My little mercatoris would sometimes split the carapace just enough to suck out the meat. It is unusual though for them to not completely dismantle the crabs body.

Thats pretty cool. I didn't look for holes or anything so I'll do that now and probably just throw it away at this point. I expected it to be all torn apart.
