Basically just a rundown of basic questions about your tank so some people can get a better feel for what each-others setup might look like. I know a bunch of you guys already know each other and have seen each others setups, but some of us who are newer aren't as familiar.

a clip on can when needed, no chiller, am planning on one though next summer.

SPS and wrasses, CUC of various snails and hermits.

SPS mainly

DSB. its about 4 inches deep.

14. What size is your sump, where is it located and what is its configuration?
The sump is 80 gallons and located directly under the tank . The config. is somewhat different and hard to explain.

15. What are your Parameters?

Manado premium LR, and figi walt smith LR.

18. What type of Salt do you use?

I will preface my answers: My "real" tank is dry at the moment, thanks to repairs. I have a temporary tank to hold livestock. Answers below are for the "real" tank.


1. Who made your Tank and whats the Dimensions.

I made it. 360g, 6' x 4' x 2'.

2. Is your stand homemade or did you purchase it?

Home made, tank is built inwall.



3. Any Controllers to control your tank?

DIY. A Typhon for lighting and a Hydra as the main brains.



4. What lights do you have?

DIY LEDs.



5. Do you have a calcium Reactor?

Nope. Ca and alkalinity via kalk.



6. What do you use for water movement?

Return pump contributes approximately 2k gph, DIY variable speed VFD closed loop delivers up to an estimated 7k gph.



7. Any other Reactors?

Nope.



8. Return pump for your tank? Submersible or External?

External, Reeflo Dart.



9. Skimmer for your tank?

Nope.



10. Chillers or Fans for temp Control.

Nope. There are two fans in the hood area, but they are to cool the electronics, not the tank itself.



11. Whats your live stock?

Kinda boring at the moment:

-A pair of clowns, some Aussie species I can't remember.
-A pair of transparent cave gobies
-A barred shrimp goby with a red pistol shrimp
-A pj cardinal
-Some assorted coral frags



12. SPS, LPS, FOWLER, Mixed Reef?

Plans are for a realistic backwater mixed reef.



13. Barebottom / Deep Sand Bed / Shallow Sand bed/ Etc what do you have?

Partial bare bottom, partial shallow sand bed composed of coarse sand and some crushed coral. I bought ~400 lbs of sand and crushed coral, used a bunch to make live rock, and put the rest in the bottom of the tank.



14. What size is your sump, where is it located and what is its configuration?

18" x 18" x 48", also DIY wood, under the tank.



15. What are your Parameters?

I target NSW.



16. Where is your tank in your home or office?

Dead middle of the 1st floor, it acts as a divider between public space (one big open open kitchen, dining, living room) and private space (two bedrooms and a bathroom).



17. What kind of rock is in your tank?

DIY "aragocrete" rock. A few teeeny bits of "real" live rock that corals have come in attached to.



18. What type of Salt do you use?

Instant Ocean. I've tried other brands over the years and always come back to this.



19. Do you own a RO/DI? If so, what make/model?

BRS house brand with 75gpd with DI and two 30g Brutes for storage.



20. What is your dream piece to add into your tank?


I don't really dream about or lust for specific corals or "pieces." I try to think about the overall look of the tank instead. If I had to pick dream pieces, they would be whatever was the biggest piece in a particular store. I've got a LOT of room to fill and it ain't gonna happen with tiny frags.


21. Do you have any type of backup for if/when the power goes out?


Nope. I've lived here for 8 years and only lost power 2 or 3 times, for a few seconds each time. That said, I am on the verge of buying a small portable generator. My Hydra controller and the network equipment in my home run on a UPS so if power goes out, my controller stays live, so it can alert me.


22. Are you planning an upgrade? If so, what are you planning?

This tank IS the upgrade. The theory is, this will be the last tank I need/want.

20. What is your dream piece to add into your tank? Small types of breeding fish is something that has always interested me ,goby's pygmy angels firefish ,just stuff I think is interesting to be able to observe and doable with what size tank I have to work with

I do have a generator and Im sure my fireplace would help alot with heat.In case of longer Ive got some cheap battery powered air pumps used for bait boxes.

Used the DIY stand thread as a guide. I teamed up with a friend from work who's a cabinet maker on the side and dressed up the stand with cherry doors and panels. It looks very sharp!


3. Any Controllers to control your tank?
None right now.

4. What lights do you have?
Nothing special right now. Just a couple T5 bulbs and a PAR38 compact fluorescent bulb

5. Do you have a calcium Reactor?
Not running.

6. What do you use for water movement?
2 MP60s and the return pump

7. Any other Reactors?
No reactors.

Reeflo Hammerhead

9. Skimmer for your tank?
Only a LifeReef VS-36. I also have a couple of LifeReef VS-24 skimmers, but the hammerhead can only run the VS-36. Initially, I only planned on 300 gallons for my upgrade, but that grew to 500 gallons and now hopes of 800 gallons down the road.

10. Chillers or Fans for temp Control.
I plan to install a HRV.

11. Whats your live stock?
In the current display tank: A foxface and a bunch of tangs: achilles, powder blue, yellow, purple (actually in my sump), hippo and desjardini. In a couple of QT tanks I have an ocellaris clownfish, flame hawk, six line wrasse, emperor angel, goldflake angel and 4 multicolor angels.

Yes, I can't remember the brand. My father-in-law pulled it from a dumpster at work. It was pretty much brand new.
