USA Orbit Marine LED Saltwater Reef Lighting

If you notice, people running them on 20" deep tanks have them dialed down quite a bit. Because of the adjustability of the intensities of the different channels, I think you'd be fine dialing them up to accommodate your 28" depth.

Okay thanks

Any led fixture that I'm aware of that has 3 watt or 5 watt leds will be more than enough light for a 28" deep tank.

The issue with the Current fixture is that 0.5 watt leds don't penetrate very deep. Even their own chart on their website shows only a 50 PAR at 24" deep. That's barely enough to keep easy coral alive and not enough to keep them healthy or growing.

Okay, so buying a 5 watt light should be enough?

So buying 2 of these should be good enough

Be sure to do your research on the fixtures before you buy. Some Chinese fixtures were known to catch on fire. I went with Reefbreeders because of the warranty and the ability to get parts in the US from the dealer.

Any 3 watt led fixture should be more than enough. That's what most fixtures use. There are a few out there now that use a mix of 3 and 5 watt leds like Reef Breeders. But they have features that you may not want to spend the money on like sunrise/sunset control and 6 channels of color control rather than just 2 (which is enough for all but the very picky about color in the tank).

And for $130 you can do better. Look at the Viparspectra line. They have built in timers and digital dimmers.

Do you think 2 of these will do?

100% absolutely sure, no question in my mind.

They are an old style black box case, but the the leds will be more than enough light and you'll come to appreciate the built-in timers and digital dimmer accuracy. And they are $50 to $75 cheaper than the Reef Breeders SuperLux or Ocean Revive T247 fixtures that are basically the same... well, the Ocean Revive fixture does look a bit more modern.
