Use for waste tank water

Hi all, i was wandering are there any uses for old tank water? The thought came to me as i watered and fertilized one of my plants a short time ago. Nitrogen and nitrates are one of the main components in most fertilizers this is also the same component we are attempting to reduce via the water changes. Would it be them possible or benificial to distill (to remove salt) used tank water and then use to both water and fertilize ones house plants? If that is possible then what use could the leftover salt have? Could it then be used again in new fresh tank water or would there be excess nitrate left within the salt? Just thoughts here for those more experienced. What other uses may the used water have beyond feeding the water treatment plants?

I think the effort to remove salt and other impurities would outweigh the small benefit of re-using the water.
It can bu used in QT tanks, if the DT is known to be disease free.
I run it out over my dog run to rinse down the ammonia.
Others have used it to kill unwanted vegetation.

I use old (salted) tank water for my QT, even though my display does have ich. No plans to treat the tank, so new fish might as well get used to it.

I store around 4 gallons of waste tank water from each water change and use it to rinse stuff that I put into the tank. Like after washing the skimmer cup in tap water, I rinse it with waste tank water. I also soak any media (like carbon) I have into waste tank water before using.

that is pretty dumb.... why live with ICH when you can treat it and QT your fish?

I pour mine into my garden, along with the skimmate and other crud water. I do not place it on the veggies themselves, but it does kill the roots of those pesky weeds between the rows.

From everything I've read about and seen on here, Ich seems to be very common, and far from the most worrisome thing fish can be afflicted with. Any number of bacterial or fungal infections, or other parasites seem far more deadly than ich.

On topic, are we talking waste water from RODI? That goes down my drain. Or water from my tank after a water change? That typically goes down my drain as well.
