Use Timer with 6080

Just wondering if is ok for me to put my two 6080 on timer. Also, if I do put them on timer, would it damage the pump??

Currently I have two 6080 in my 80gallon. I got it used about 1 month or so ago, was originally purchased by original owner in December 2004.

Would be nice if I can put it on timer. So the flow won't be the same 24/7. Maybe each of them can be on for 12 hours at a time and overlap for 6 hours. Each 6080 is placed at corner at back of the tank on each side. The current creat by them meet in the front center of the tank at area between overflow box and front glass.

If have any tip/suggestion or experience to share with me please PM me or post here.. Thanks.

p.s. I thought about place it at front on either side of tank, but make the tank look ugly with two pump blocking the view.

Yes, you can do this, they can only be turned off once an hour, so you could turn them off for a minute but once they start they should run for an hour. In this way it won't affect pump life or warranty.

cool, that's nice to know. Because some of my coral showing some stress from the flow only going one direction in certain parts of my tank.

Besides that, they work wonderfully on moving water in my 80 gallon tank. My tank looks like jacuzze tub when both of those monster is on. Total of 4500 gal/h.

:D

anyone has any time settings that works well for them?

time to go look for digital timer. Any suggestions on Which timer to use?

The coralife unit with the plug strip is real handy. Otherwise, Lowes carries some Timex timers I rather like.
