I have a good friend who is selling a non reef ready 180 Oceanic tank and stand for $250. It is the old style Oceanic that is made of super thick (over 1/2") glass. This monster weighs over 300 lbs empty. The tank was used for freshwater fish. Excellent shape with very few scratches. It is locatewd in Seneca Falls but he can arrange for transport. He also has a fairly new Rena canister filter available for $50. Let me know if interested and I can hook you guys up. I only wish I could take this. It is incredibly tempting.

could this tank be drilled, and would it be worth it to try?

Yes and Yes

PS Jerry you should buy it :) Does it come with a stand?

Jerry if you decide to buy it let me know i will help you get the monster. Also i'm buying a glass drill bit for 1" bulk heads. You could use it to drill the overflows.

You should buy it Jerry 125 is too small for the frugal reefer... I would put a 2" bnulkhead in it for the drain though

My wife would have a fit but keep me in mind if SPN's deal falls though.

Would WE be able to get this monster down to my basement?

Dave

Nothing is too heavy with a little determination. I would not think it would be an issue though. Let me know if you want some manpower.

I dont think your brother has the time to help move a tank Jeremy

I never ever mentioned anything about about my brother. I offered my services as far as help getting it into his basement..

Dave, you're gonna have to do some advanced physics to get that down there with just you and your wife. I have an old Oceanic 180. 340# dry. I had to trick a friend into helping me and almost killed my sister in law's boyfriend while moving it in. Not to mention the fact that I couldn't feel my right leg for about 3 days afterward.....

The words friction, fulcrum, and cantilever come to mind :hmm5:

I'm gonna stay put with my humble 125 so as tempting as it is I decided to let this one pass which means that SPN has first dibs. Once you give the official OK I will put you in touch with the seller. You will definitely need to line up some bodies to move this baby. I remember moving the zoo tank. This baby weighs almost twice as much. I believe he can drive this down in his minivan but it will take two trips since the tank and stand won't fit on one trip.

Jerry,

Just got the tank in the door, cant wait to get it drilled and filled.

Thank you.
