used mp40 prices

Just getting the general populations opinion on this one. My next step on my tank is vortechs mp40s, and being the tribal person I am im in the market for used gen2s. My question is what is the fair price for one of these today. On the sale forum I've seen them go for 350-275 shipped on a regular basis. Heck the other day one sold for an unbelievable 100 dollars. What would you pay for one in good condition?
 
If it's not an es then, $300 tops bc you can upgrade to W ES. For extra $100. So that would make $400 for mp40w es. With an extra controller. Which new sale for $445.
 
+1 on what Zef said. When I bought my first two, I paid $300 each and then $100 for a battery backup. When I bought my next two I paid $300 and $350 for the ES.
 
If you are fast there are some that come up as low as 250.00-275.00 and the battery backups are around 90.00-100.00 but Icecap is no more so they may drop way down in price.
I am ordering a new 2011 model Battery Backup that is better than the old IC ones, They have a longer run time and are the same price as the old model. I found them new for 154.99 Free Shipping.

Wow 72 hrs that's awesome. Also I meant to say frugal and my stupid spellcheck on my phone turned it into tribal .......I hope no one votes me off the island.
 
UPS's became popular back in the early 90's for businesses using PCs - it supplys "backup" power when the power goes out and allowed the user time to close all applications and shut the system down properly (and thus, not loose important data). Also used on servers. Available in anything from 10 minutes of power to several hours (I'm sure more now, with the advancement in battery technology). Back then they were WAY expensive. I can remember back at Deloitte & Touche, they were like $300 for 30 minutes of power - but again, that was like 17 years ago!
 
I have one on my servers in brentwood that will operate two servers for 17 minutes in event of power outage. they use alot of juice but it is time for then to shut down. if i were to use it on the MP40, it may last for a week or two.
 
Correct me if I am wrong... but I thought a big advantage of using the Vortech battery was the units knew when they were on battery and went into a reduced power mode to stretch out the power.
 
It all depends on the UPS there are some as large as a room and others that are for PCs. One thing is that they are all batteries. the kicking down to reserve battery power is a key thing. I have an old APC 900 and I don't get any where near 72 hrs but I have a couple of other things on it. Your tank can last with flow even if your heaters are not working and the temp drops. It all depends on how far the temp drops and how fast but no flow = no life. they can last a little bit but this is the one thing you want to make sure of that you have flow.

I am living in Akron OH so I have a heater plugged into my APC900 which is the PC type UPS not the APC2200 which was the server mounted 4U box at the bottom of most server cabinets. The batteries do not last forever and so the hold time drops off like a cliff if the batteries get old.

I get 2.5 hrs with my heater and MP40w I will probably replace this with the Battery backup module so that I don't have to worry about flow when the power goes out.

The other thing that I would say is some MP40's are dead quiet and others make a little noise. Make sure you ask about this and about the condition of the mechanicals ect. some times the wet side parts need to be replaced to keep it quiet.

Thank you, I ordered the New Version by Vortech and it will be here Thursday. Hope this storm is not the preminition i had to get the backup in the first place.

ok so saltwatercritters has new mp40w es pump for $397 and mp60w es for $619, not that im gettign a 60 an free shipping. i pretty sure this is a good deal for "new" vortechs. has anyone ordered from this place before?
