Many thanks for this review on www.profiluxsupport.com
This post is for all the people even thinking about switching.
To give you a little back ground on my controller knowledge, I was using the Neptune Systems Product line for years. My last controller was the Apex and I noticed something over the last two years of owning it. Every 9 to 12 months I had to send it in for repair. I set the controller up just like they told me and received most my programming code from the owner. Soon I found myself reading the stories online where it would cost $175 to $200 every time someone sent their unit in for a base module swap. Now this got me thinking, if I have my tank for 10 years and I am still having the same issues that will cost me $1750 to $2000 in just repairs. My Apex was no small unit, it had a lot of extras and I was not even done with what I wanted to put on the system; Altogether I had $1535.00 into my Apex system, this does not include the third party piece I need to make it kind of work the way I want it.
So I started looking around and talking to people about the ProfiLux. Everyone raved about the support, and the dependability of the units. With that in mind I dug into researching their product for over the last 6 months, telling myself if I have one more issue with the Apex I am going to swap it out. During those 6 months I could not find one bad review on the ProfiLux system. No one complaining it was having issues that could not be solved with an email to support or a posting on the forum. I was impressed, and sure enough my Apex started acting up. I contacted Apex support and had to send my main unit into them because the issue was hardware related, something about a bad bus on the main controller board, again.
I contacted Michael and he and I talked over the phone for a bit (on a Sunday). He referred me to Yorgos, and Yorgos could tell how frustrated I was with the Apex by the choice of words I used to describe it. Yorgos put together my complete package on my long term goals. He did not upsell me into features I would never use, just the ones I needed at this time to make my system run on its own besides the water changes (Auto water changes will be next). I ordered the ProfiLux 3ex Ulitmate pack with the Balling dosing pack and a couple other things I needed. Altogether I think it cost around $2500.00.
I know what you are saying, WOW that is a lot, but if you think about what I want on my 330 gallon system you will understand why I spent so much.
I want my tank to be auto enough I can travel with the wife.
1. LED to shut off by the controller without using a controlled outlet. I have 4 Drivers.
2. Upgrade ATO float system
3. Dosing pump
4. Dosing chambers
5. Balling packs for easy mixing (so easy a caveman can do it)
6. I use Ozone so I needed the Redox
I received my order in a week and in good condition; I found the learning curve of this unit is not as bad as I thought it was going to be. In fact it was much easier than the Apex, over all, once you understand the logic behind the controller. Which will took me about 30 minutes into the setting it up process. I set up the unit, for the most part, in about 3 hours. I went to bed last night not even worrying about my controller, my tank or anything else on the system for the first time in a few years. I woke up to my system complete intact and running as I programmed it. This may have cost me a few hundred more but for the peace of mind, it was money well spent.
If you compare what the ProfiLux 3ex Ulitimate Pack ($1699) to the same functions (modules and probes) of the Apex, the ProfiLux still had more features built into it, and only cost $150.00 more.
If you are going to spend thousands on your tank and livestock why not protect it with the best? I HIGHLY recommend the ProfiLux controller systems
Hope this helps
