Ushio 14K 250w

Has anyone here used these bulbs for their sps tank? How is the blue/brightness compared to the Phoenix 14K bulbs?

I have been using the Phoenix 14k combined w/ the 10K from Ushio and thinking about switching the Ushio 10K to 14k.. I like the Ushio 10K bulbs since they last very long, but not sure about these new 14K tho.

I used them. Hardly any blue at all. Its more of a 10k than a 14k. I used them on HQI ballast and IceCaps and showed the same color.

I tried running both the BLV/Ushio 14k and Phoenix side by side for a while, on a HQI ballast. The 14K BLV/Ushio is pure white, no hint of blue, and much brighter to the eye than the Phoenix. Didn't look that great together. Each bulb looked fine on its own, depending on if you're going for the white vs blue look, and the two bulbs are quite different in color even though they're both stated as 14k bulbs.

that's interesting.. the current Ushio 10K bulbs on my tank have a little bit of yellow hue... Does the Ushio 14K have less yellow and more 'soft' white?

If it's is, I may use it as combination w/ my Phoenix 14k.

i'm going to try this 14k bulbs and let you know... The price on these bulbs are very reasonable now (custom aquatic has them for ~$65) and a friend of mine told me that he can even order them for me for only $60!
