Ushio and Hamilton HM bulbs?

Well it's time to order bulbs and I'm a little confused. I'm using 175 w 10k Hamiltons now and like them. I'm looking at bulbs at Marine Depot and the Hmiltons and Ushios are listed toghter and apart both. Also if you read the discriptions they are the same. My question is, besides the Ushios being 10 buck less what is the difference?

Thanks,
Brett

i bought a ushio 14k and it broke after 4 months at the screw and i was very disapointed, so i bought hamilton 10k and my corals like it very much but its bright and close to yellow but i'm probally not going to use ushio again. besides i hear all the best things about iwasaki 15k even though they cost 75 each i'm going to give them a try next round it only $20 more each so for me thats only 60 bucks to try them out. IMO. good luck

Well I use a PFO ballast. I like the 10 k Hmiltons with my VHO actinics Just if they are the same as the Ushio's I could save $20.

Thanks,
Brett

i believe they are made by the same company as hamilton just under the ushio name there are probally some small differences. a good way to check would be to compare the two at sanjay's lighting website. i think i'll give it a look.

Ushio 175W 10000K SE 1 Icecap 175W Electronic N 63 8595 179 122 1.62 0.3536
Hamilton 175W 10000K SE 1 Icecap 175W Electronic N 60 8220 176 122 1.6 0.3449
these are the stats from sanjay's web site so there is a difference between the two bulbs they are not exactly the same. i like my hamilton10k but it looks like the ushio has better stats.

what do the numbers mean? Ive looked at the comparisons like this but Ive never seen something that shows what they mean so I have no idea what im looking at.

it might be made at a facility in different location with cheaper raw materials. in my orginal post my ushio broke after 3-4 months maybe lower quality materials. i'm not sure on that one. i like my hamilton 10k.

the #=. lamp, ballast, sheild, PPFD, CCT, watts, volts, amps, efficency.
what i lookat with these numbers is the amps used looks like ushio uses 0.02 more amps which is pretty insignificant to me and the CCT # which tells use the color temp actually recorded. both bulbs claim there 10k so one(hamilton) is approx 375 less kilvin than the other. check out iwasaki bulbsthere true k rating is between 13-14k. pretty impressive

well I need a 400 watter Im just trying to determine which one is best, I wish they would make an iwasaki for the 400 besides the 6500k
