Using a 6155 with Apex

To use the above pump with Apex controller does the 110v power supply need to be plugged in or will the stream cable from Neptune supply enough power to run it.

The pump is not powered by the controller connection, with a Tunze controller the pump powers the controller, but I am fairly certain the Apex has its own power supply and is not powered by the pump. The pump absolutely has to be plugged in, there is no way the controller cable could power it.

Thanks Apex manual was a little confusing,I did not think that not putting 110v to the pump
would allow it to work.
Since we are on the pump subject I would have thought that the 6155 would be a little stronger, flow wise.I also find the front housing a little flimsy.

The pump gets 24V from the power supply that is included.

I assume you mean the 6205.200 protective grid? It is a bit flimsy but its sole purpose is to keep small animals out of the pump and if it was more robust it would restrict the flow, it would be sturdier if it secured around the edge of the pump like they do on the smaller pumps but this makes it to wide to fit in a Stream rock or the output of a wavebox so it has to be the way it is. Since it generally just gets soaked for cleaning and even if a grid or two breaks it still does its job, it is not a big concern.

At full power the flow should cover about 5.5-6ft reach by about 3ft diameter, the velocity is not very high, it is more diffuse.
