Using "old" water for water changes

I mixed 4 gallons of water about 8 days ago and just have it sitting in the homer bucket with a power head in it. Is it safe to use? Its been in the dark the whole time if that matters.

I believe it will be fine, I've kept pre mixed water for 2-3 weeks before.

How long does salt water keep? I have some in a 55 gallon barrel thats like 6 weeks old.

That I'm not sure of. I have only used a few gallons that have set for a 3-4 weeks.

I've been told that as long as you keep a lid on it and keep it cool and in a dark place, you should be good for a while. I keep 5 gallon jugs in my closet that stays around 66 degrees for weeks with no issues at all.

I regularly keep 30g of mixed SW for 4 weeks (sometimes longer :worried: )

I do keep it mixed and heated but thats just incase I have an emergency and need to use it immediately.
