I've heard some people having good results with USPS next day, but has anyone heard any horror stories?
every overnight shipper (FedEx, UPS, USPS) has a blemish on their otherwise good track record. It's impossible to have 100% success rate when shipping overnight with so many variables. Look what happened to Tom Hanks in 'Castaway'

Are you considering shipping livestock, drygoods or something else?

My wife works for USPS and tells me about some crazy things that they ship. Someone orders live chickens about once a month, LOL. Anyway, for the most part it seems they do a good job of getting things done right.

I'm thinking of ordering some zoa's from a guy in california - I live in north carolina and overnight is really expensive, but I don't know if I want to risk USPS.

there is no diffrence between overnite packages and ground as far the handling goes / its all about how the item is packed ups/fed ex have a better track record of being on time /next day air are like 97.5 % on time with ups ( or something like that) with some % on late are severe weather delays on are witch ups nor any other carrier has no control over. if you ask me i would spend the extra $$$$ and send it ups/fedex

i must have a good fdex facility here cause i get my stuff held at the station and its always avialable at 8;30am when they open up . i have ordered alot of times ,over 50 and they are batting 1000 so far .............probably just jinxed myself with that being said .

ups hub in willow springs il handles ~1,500,000 packages a day on the average and thats only one building so just imagine how many packages are in tha whole country wide system so being 97.5 effective you still got long ways to go before odds catch up with you .......lol....:D :D :D

I have had great luck with Fed-ex and The ups guys.

The USPS is a total nother story. They lost my package and didnt seem to give the slightest bit of care to it. I called 4 times in 4 hours to see if they had found it or could narrow down where it was to a state or a dead or hi-jacked truck.

The man on the other end took my info and asked me "Shows here you just called" I was like yeah an hour ago and its been missing now since 11 am WHERE IS MY PACKAGE?!?

I will never use them again if they offer it for free!

I'll NEVER order anything USPS. I ordered some ricordea with overnight USPS shipping. Took TWO days to get here - only about 100 miles away. All the ricordea were dead.

Post office said that even though the shipper paid for overnight - the "area of Indiana it was being shipped out of will NEVER get there overnight. That area always takes an extra day." I asked why they advertise it as overnight. She just looked at me and couldn't answer.

Oh - and they told me that I couldn't file a claim because I wasn't the "shipper" and wasn't the person that "paid" for the insurance. Well the shipper wouldn't help me so I was out the price for 3 ricordeas and overnight shipping cost.

I would NEVER recommend them for anything. (And will NEVER buy from the online vendor again either.)

Fedex has always been amazing and on time.

Another "I'LL NEVER order anything USPS again." The place I ordered from used it twice for their next day delivery which the shipper said they use all the time with good success. Cost me as much as UPS NEXT DAY for 2nd day one time and over the weekend the next time. When I called the PS to complain they simlpy said "Oh, your not in our next day delivery zone" Hello? Where I come from you pay, you play or don't take my money.

Paying for USPS Next day, unfortunately as many have proven, does not guarantee you next day delivery.
You need to check with them every single time to make sure its going to be within their "Next Day Delivery Zone"
With my experience, most next day takes 2 days.

I would normally say UPS is best to me, until they lost my espresso machine for 2 weeks!
Imagine being the guy on the other end of the phone when I was calling to find out where my package was for 14 days and I hadnt been having my normal caffeine fix!!

and if those were your ricordea's in that package tom would have kept them few feet below the surface than upon rescue get it you your door by 1030 am!!!!!!!!!!!! imagine how many ric's you would get after few years multiplying!!!!!!!!!!!!!!11

ups dont ( there might be some in alaska where is immposible to get it threre by 1030am but by the end of day you should be fine)not sure bout fed ex
