Vacuum sand or let Cucumber do it?

Hi all, I now have two 5" tiger tail cucumbers in my 80g reef (it just split in two :) )

I'm wondering if I should continue vacuuming the exposed sand bed when I do water changes, or if I should leave excess food and fish waste for them so that they stay well fed. I've read its not too difficult to starve them, and it would save me having to do it :)

Any thoughts on "feeding" these guys? Thanks

have a yellow cucumber from the Florida Keys that is now about 6" long when it's happy. I have a 125g tank and 80% of the bottom is sand (most of my LR is up on egg crate platforms above the sand) and I never vacuum the sand unless I start to get some cyano start up, which happens rarely.

Is splitting in two a good thing or a bad thing? If it's good then I would just stick to your current routine.
