valentine puffer

I have been thinking about adding a new fish to my system. I posted a thread a couple weeks ago asking for suggestions. Right now I have a dwarf lion and a clarki clown in a 30 gallon. Suggestions I got included a dwarf angel, blenny, another clown, among others. No one mentioned a valentine puffer. Would this be a safe addition?

They can be nippy. I had one for a while and it took chunks out of the dorsal fin of my juvi majestic angel. Got rid of it. Interesting little fish but not sure I'd keep one with a lion of any type.

I keep a Canthigaster valentini with a large saddle back clown and a Bursa Trigger. They been together for about 3yrs with no problems . Idid have a fuzzy dwarf lion with them without problem for over a year. th3e valentini was in the tank first. IF the Clarki is very large ,it can be nasty.

what happened to your fuzzy? my clarki is still small, about 2.5 inches, the fuzzy is about 3 inches. would the valentine nip at the lion?

The Dendrochirus brachypterus(fuzzy dwarf lion). None of the other fish bothered it. After about a year it just stopped eating. It had been taking krill and silversides regularly. It showed no signs of illness, just wouldn't eat. After about three weeks I moved it to another tank,no luck. It took a couple of months to die. Sad.

ouch. in a tank my size do you think it is likely that the puffer will pick on my lion or clown causing an issue?

I really don't think so mine is in a 35g which is not integrated into the system. At 2.5 inches , I don't think the Clarki will be a problem either.
You never really know and may get a nipper but it has not been my experience.
