ive had this blue spot jaw fish for about 3 months now. hes been the most active fish in the tank, so when i went out yesterday morning and he was no where to be found, slight panic set in. So i figured maybe hes just being cranky and hiding, and i'd give him a day. well today still no sign of him, i checked the back of the tank behind all the rock work, in the overflow etc etc. so I dont know if this is normal for them to just go into hiding or if he burried himself and is now dead. all my rock on the bottom glass and nothing seems to have shifted. some of this holes have filled in a little bit with sand and the yashi has taken over one of his holes. so do i just wait it out? or should i start vacumming out sand to look for a body?

Checked those already. The overflow used to be his go to spot before I put egg create over the top and nets over the top of the tank

What is the temp of your tank? Blue spot jaws prefer cooler water temps. A tank in the mid 70's or above will lead to a much quicker than normal demise.

Check the floor. Especially behind the tank. Those fish can get through gaps so small you wouldn't even believe.

Checked the floor all the way around the tank. The tank has a screen cover on it and if he made it through those holes he's probably jesus and shouldn't be in my tank any ways. I guess at this point I start prepping for an Ammonia spike
