Venturi Intake Before Impeller?

Hello Everyone,

Im just wondering if anyone knows, is it do-able to attach a venturin intake before the impeller on a maxi-jet powerhead? I would like to use the impeller to chop up the bubbles before they are sent into a skimmer(prototype design), just wondering how plausible this idea is?

Works great, I used one on a DIY skimmer a few months ago.

Yes, that will work. The CPR Bak Paks use MJs with the Venturi kit. You can get the kits here

Great, thank-you! I forgot about those, haha. Now im wondering... would that work on a maxi-jet 600? It says 750-1200.

I imagine it would. The only difference between them, AFAIK, is how much water they move. Maybe the 600 doesn't pull enough water to pull air through?

You could always try it. Its like $7.
