Verdict is in on Aqua Illuminations- Don't buy

the point is, we are lied to !

NO, we are not.

tunze sais XXX GPH, and fails to bring it.

IT HAS BEEN CORRECTED!!!

Now....If Roger told you 2 Tunze 6105s would be perfect for a SPS 120g- BEFORE OR AFTER THEY CORRECTED THE LOWER FLOW- you would be plenty happy with the recommendation. I never saw one single complaint about Tunze flow unitl one single test put numbers on it and a handful of people ran with it.

XXXX skimmer maker sais fit for 100G and fails to skimm a 100 G tank

Go ask Jeremy from CoralVue what he would recommend for you specific tank, and you would get an honest answer. You would be happy with the answer. He would not tell you to put a skimmer ballparked at 150g on a 15o gallon high load tank.

AI sais XXX coverage and fails to show it.
thats the point I am trying to make

He was told directly by AI what would work over his tank, and the result was mediocre.

There is a HUGE difference between givng ballpark tank recommendations on any reefing equipment and what would work for a specific tank. Asking a manufacturer directly what would work for your specific tank should get an honest statemnet. It would from Tunze, EcoTech, CoralVue, etc....it did not from AI.

If you shine the ai sol on a wall, you will see that through their positioning of the leds and possibly the optics, the spread is round but with a center high par area. I don't think ai necessarily falsified their claims.
Sanjay's testing shows the same round spread.

you really think this is about tunze VS vortech ? what statement makes u think that ?

the point is, we are lied to !
You can get you knickers in a knot it you'd like but it's not at all unusual in this hobby. Products change, information gets updated.......it's the way it works. Ecotech said "after extensive testing" before they released the product..........too bad they lasted a bout 6 seconds before they failed. They've made improvments, the product is better - it's the nature of the hobby.

If this annoys you don't ever go into the chemistry forum...........the chemist debunking the snake oil salesmen will be traumatic  (I don't think there's any area in the hobby that has more BS than additive products)

wow !

we are saying that most of REEF EQUIPMENTS are overrated.

water movements are part of reef equipments.

No, but many are and there is nothing that the OP said about Tunze or Vortech misleading him. I believe you brought that up in a thread it didn't belong in. In many of your posts, you allmost make sense once we weed through the non-sense.

Move on from the Tunze vs Vortech battle you are waging within yourself, you will both win and lose.

wow jack ! whats ure Issue ?!

if I were you, I would watch what I post !

I am making my point, which is all reef equipments are overrated, my opinion.

and I have no Idea why you fail to read! but I am not talking about tunze VS Ecotech ! I am saying AI lied, the same way tunze lied ! nothing to do with Ecotech :) perhaps you cant read ...

I would advice you to NOT read my post, if you decide to reply like that, I do not apprecaite that crap.

Sorry, but I had to lol

Everyone should just relax. It's not the end of the world. The OP shared his opinion and now this has gone to a different place.

The difference is Tunze did not have a Rep mislead people to get sales. Tunze made an error in calculation, that isn't the same thing and has nothing to do with this thread. AI is a good company that had a bad employee. It has nothing to do with the company or the product, though I had issues with some of their claims it doesn't detract from the fact that the product does work. And no matter how you spin it, it has nothing to do with Tunze or any other mfg. that had made a mistake. All of these companies go through a learning curve with their products and that is true with any product. I am not including the additives that do basically nothing because I don't see them as real products, just a gimmick to add to their bank account.

The point is suggesting that the test done by Vortech showing Tunze had an error in their flow statements has zero to do with an unscrupulous employee misleading people. I know you are more than bright enough to understand that, far too bright to bring it up in this thread as it is completely irrelevant. I know you understand that Tunze did not intentionally mislead people so I don't get the point in bringing up that study here.

Im not gonna even read ure second paragraph, I have both tunze and vortech ... I dont want to talk about that ... that's irrelavant ;)

about ure first paragraph ! you really dont realize that we are saying the same thing are u ? I think ure just mad ... so wont argue with u ... but to sum it up.

- both good companies.

- both have made mistakes.[either an employee answering emails, or an employee doing test on flow ;)]

- both products work, but not as decribed. AI doesnt cover a 2 by 2 foot area, and a 6105 doesnt push 3300 GPH. that's it :)

you can close ure eyes and say tunze didnt know .... I speak to german and European reefers, and it was a fact when tunze made their new pumps .... there are even qoutes form reputable german reefers saying it ...

anyways, I have no Idea why its so hard for you to get my simple comparison and feel the need to call me names or say my posts are none sense .... again I assume ure just mad at something else today ... but the fact is, we need to research before buying something ! this is a hobby ... and at hobby grade, companies make mistakes or lies ... so we need to do our part as well ....

if you do not agree with me, lets drop it and agree to disagree... I know you are bright enough to understand it.

I have 2 Ai sole blue over a 3ft tank and coverage is perfect (all 70 deg optics) I think bigger tanks are a problem if you take short cuts in spread. A 2 ft span per fixture is alot to ask.Luv the color with T-5 but the pro's for LED outway the cons for me.

I never get mad. :-) I completely agree with doing research, and the OP did, from the mfg. and was mislead or lied to, we will never really know but we do know that for his tank he needed more than he bought.

Hug? :fun4:

Why is it that whenever people see a debate, and this is a pretty tepid one, they automatically assume people are raging behind their monitor or pounding on their keyboard? Are we all supposed to be completely sterile in discussing things?

While I find over the top arguing and insulting totally useless, i fail to see the fun in everyone just agreeing with everything everyone says.

I prefer a good tequila shot or 5, but beer will do in a pinch. Nothing has changed my mind though, Sonic still has the best tater tots. :D

I guess people don't have a sense of humor around here.

I think it's funny that people get all worked up over things like this. Btw, that's my opinion so hopefully people don't start bashing me over it.

I said "people" not "all people" :hmm5:

Maybe I should've been more specific by saying "certain individuals"
