Vermetid snails

I have been doing some research into getting rid of these web creating PITA creatures. Has anyone had any luck with hermit crabs? I put all my hermits in the sump since the kept eating my snails. Seems like maybe they kept the vermetids in check though as the I dont remember the webs when the hermits were in the tank. Any imput would be appreciated.

verm tubes are pretty sturdy- can you imagine what size hermit crab it would take to break those things off?
