Vertex Illumina Club

Is there a way to mount an Illuminux strip on to an Illumina?

I want to add another strip of lighting, but don't want another hanging kit dangling from the ceiling.

I'd second that question. Are there mounting brackets available for the Vertex Illumina so it can be mounted on the edges of a rimless tank instead of mounting the fixture from the ceiling?

There are no mounting legs available for the Illumina yet, however I'm looking into possibly getting this done by a local shop.

Burnt tips on Acros

Burnt tips on Acros

Has anyone else had burnt tips on Aros after switching to the Illumina?

I have a Elos 70 that had a Geisman fixture over it. 24" 250mh with 4 T5 actinics in it. I run a DE 20k bulb

I hung the light and set it to 50% 50% 50%. Everything looked great for a week so I set it to 65% white 65% Royal Blue and 50% Blue on Friday.
When I came in Monday I had burnt tips on most SPS and all have gone deeper colour but not all have gone brown.

No other changes, ALK is steady at 8 (API kit) so its not alk burn. This tank is usually my beta tester, everything lives because I dont mess with it. Fish dont even get fed sat sun as I am at home and away from the tank.

So I have the light back down to 25% across the board and it isnt getting worse, hopefully everything bounces back

Algae was starting to grow on the tips (up to 1/2 dead on every tip) so I trimmed most of them off to try and get everything to heal up

Anyone else out there? Have a similar problem? How did you go about fixing the isssue?

Jeremy B.,

Please keep us updated with the mounting legs for the Illumina. I don't want to do ceiling mounting because of recessed lighting above the aquarium.

Thanks.

David

I recently got the 24" illumina for my 36" 30 gallon tank. I'm considering upgrading to a 75 or 90 gallon tank that is 48" long. Do you think I'd still be able to use the 24" Illumina adequately over this new tank?

If you upgrade your tank to a 75 gallon with the following dimension of 36" w x 24" d x 20" h or 90 gallon tank that is 36" w x 24" d x 24"h, you should be able to use the same fixture with no problems unless you are set on getting a 48" long tank.

Is any body running the red supp's yet. I have mine on order but would be interested in seeing a b4 and after shot with the red panels
