Vertex Illumina Club

i just joined the Illumina club with a 24" 200 model. it will be over a 30x30x25 cube
now all i need is a sump that'll fit in the stand and i can get this thing wet!!!

Just received my SR260 600mm...decided to go with the 260 after all. I have a quick question about programming the light using the 4 buttons on the side of the fixture. I'll play around with the Color Studio programming on my PC later on. So far, I've set the intensity of the white leds at 35%, the blues at 45%, and the royal blues at 55% with a "risetime" and "dawntime" of 2 hours each. Does that mean the light will ramp up slowly to these set percentages over a 2 hour period and ramp down accordingly over a 2 hour period as well? The manual I downloaded is not very detailed so any help will be greatly appreciated. Thanks.

I emailed Nicolas last Friday and still have not receive a response.

I got the BETA version of the software and after the little test i did...it seems everything is working fine. my new illumina fixture is still not mounted because i don't have the right brackets for it but the color of UV module looked good.

here is the screenshot of my expert configuration. This configuration was just for testing.

They weren't kidding when they say you can't really see the UV lights. Even at its brightest setting, the UVs are dim to the eye.

The beta software does not seem to work for the UV leds when you use the "Compose Color" option. It programs and upload just fine tho.

I'm personally more interested to see what they do to the corals in terms of color tha the visual spectral change of the light output! Happy to see the software is finally out!
Any one has before and after pics? I won't be back home for another 5 weeks so I be intereted to see some pics if any of you have them.
I saw the pix on Vertex FB page and acually they are not that dim! it is just that the RB and Red are much more dominant colors I guess.
Cheers,
Dave

I started using the uv's just over a week ago. As soon as they came on I saw colours that were simply missing before. Foe example, purple tips on my two elegance corals, deeper greens on zoas. The whole tank looks much crisper / sharper.
I have the Illumina sr1200 and installed two uv's. This is the perfect number for that size. One for every two foot. I have started them off very low, only 15%. You can hardly see them working, they look really dim if looked at directly (not good for the eyes), but the change was massive.
Since adding my yellow hairy zoa type corals have coloured up over the week and look much better now. They are yellow again instead of dirty looking. The elegance fluresent green sections have expanded and the coral is definatley looking happier as are all corals. Nothing apears to dislike the aux pads.
If you are using a vertex these uv's are essential, unlike the reds which are fun but not much more.
I have all my settings low compared to some others
royal blue max 52%
Blue 47%
White 28%
UV X2 15%
Red X2 5% (only used at all because I bought them lol)

My advice is the Illumina without the UV works, but with the UV = "Wow!"
Before anyone asks, "no I'm not a sales person, just a very happy customer!":thumbsup:

My SR260-36" illumina's current version is 1631. I noticed latest available from vertex website is 1851.

Can I go directly from 1631 to 1851 or do I need to increment to a different version(s) first.

You go directly, thats what I did. (don't think there was an inbetween).
update your desktop program to the newest,if you have not done so already first.
Also make sure you do a full update from the dropdown tab. :fish2:

Very fun reading....

Its great that Vertex finally released the long anticipated UV module. I am excited to try it out in my tank but am thinking it might be best to hold off a little longer since I just changed from a Calcium reactor to 2 part and things are much more stable now. Consequently, coloration improved dramatically because of this and is still improving.

I've had my tank setup since November with the 24 ft Vertex Illumina 260. I need to post some pics to show the progress. I promise to contribute to this thread and post some before and afters if I get the UV module. :)
