Vertex Illumina Club

I have a 2 foot SR260 that I mounted on my Marineland 93 gallon cube tank and it worked out great. All you have to do is turn the plastic mount around and have the unit clamp onto the tank. It sits perfect and slides back and for with ease. For some reason the system will not let me upload any pictures so here is a link to another site that I have photos on.

Fantastic setup mate :inlove: I advise you to go easy on the red, infact I would advise to change it to a uv.
Thanks for the link also, I will be busy looking at all the tanks:celeb1:
Will follow your tank thread mate, wonderfull ( I need a basement ):fish2:

Hi again Brian:-)
What is the reason that you dont fancy the red pads??
I have three in my sr 1500 and I think they are great:-)
I see a huge difference in the color of most of my corals since I started with red pads some months ago.

Best regards Stavanger

Has anyone on here had problems with the screws on the end cap getting stripped trying to install the auxiliary pads? They can be a real PITA!

thanks to the help of kind reef central people, I got enough information to order my 200-72" illumine fixture, and brackets to install on my tank. I've been reading the manual on-line on how to program the controller (on the fixture), and have a question: When programing the lunar cycle it asks for intensity 0 - 100 percent. Is that percent of the total led capability? What do most run for lunar intensity?
thanks, Mike

I run mine at 5%.

For the owners of these lights...From what I have read the fixture is only using cool white LED's, do you believe the fixture is missing anything by not having any Neutral or warm whites in the mix??

Hi m8,
When I put two red aux pads on my sr1200 I sat them to 10% during the day and they ramped up to 30% for an hour of sunset. The ramp was half an hour from 10% to 30%, then half an hour down to 0%.
During the following days and weeks my orange monti paled in patches, followed by the tissue dieing off around the edges.
I tested all chemical values of the water, but they were good! My wife said "This has all started since you added the reds!" I said it won't be the lights, but I turned the reds off and slowly the coral recovered, but it took weeks.
I also noticed that other corals opened more without the red. I do use them now but only to a max of 5% and no ramping sunset.
Could you tell me your settings? All led's % and duration. Or better still you could post a pic of your light setup from the desktop.
Thanks and all the best...Brian:)

Can someone tell me why they chose the vertex illumina over the radions? are they that much better? I herd people are getting great results from the radions?

I wanted lights with mounting brackets/feet that sit on the tank.
I prefer the look for a continuous fixture, vs. 3 or 4 separate units connected via a metal bar.

I saw the Radion at a LFS and I wasn't that impressed with it. I also don't like the idea of hanging the light 8 inches above my tank with wires dangling from the ceiling in my living room because it doesn't have a tank mounting option. The Radion also has a continuous running fan for as long as the light is on without giving you any option to program. I believe the Radion is driving the white leds at maximum 5 watts which can have a negative impact on the longevity of the led chips. My previous led fixture didn't have optics and I really like the light spread. That's another reason I choose the Vertex in addition to the semiconductor technology in the Vertex.

Hi Mate:-)
I am at work now,but will send the picture of my settings.
But,here comes the short version:beer:
I am using concurent,blue &royal blue and red 100%
The white 58%.And off course the new Uv on 70%,but increasing:-)
I have also got a second hand ,Illumilux blue/royal blue fixture,8 hours a day.
These settings gives me a color wich I am very satisfied with.
And also my corals fancy it too:-) I like to think that the red led, does the same az Kz Fiji purple t5 tubes does.I have only a positive experience with the red led pads, and as I have mentioned earlier,I have a lot better color in most of my corals after adding the red.Ps,my tank is 99,8% sps:spin3:

Best regards Stavanger

Not sure what Kz fiji purple looks like, but I loved the color of ATI' fiji purple bulb on my T-5 tank. I was previously thinking of staying away from the red pads, but now I might add 2-pads of reds along with 2-pads of UV.

At one point I was thinking of adding ecoxotic's magenta stunner strips to get the same figi purple look.

Ok, I received my 200-72inch fixture with brackets, that I'm intending to install on my 200 gal Oceanic glass tank with trim. I installed the brackets but they don't quite reach to do the previously suggested glass tank install. However, I can trim the acrylic foot depth a little, install it on the -outside_ of the bracket flange, and the bracket will ride inside the trim lip to prevent side to side movement, while the acrylic foot will sit on the top of the plastic trim. The fixture does bow the brackets a little, but I was an engineer for an aircraft company, and I know that aluminum doesn't get tired :). The build quality on the fixture looks excellent, but I'm going to be patient and take my time to modify the mounting correctly, and then enjoy the results!

not to split hairs but the fiji purple was a kz bulb, the ati was a purple plus.

I would still like to see some shots with the uvs on. Anyone have pics
