Vertex Illumina Light Studio Programming Thread

Do you have the red, green, or warm white modules? I believe they only come with blue, royal blue, and white. At least my SR260 did.

I bought the used one 3ft and the owner said he installed these modules additionally.

Do you see these colors in your menu?

That light composer lets you adjust colors from 0-100 and the fixture immediately responds to the adjustments. No response? That would mean to me no communication. Installed modules correctly? Did you do your updates? Did you do "complete updates" on all pads in fixture?

Yes, all 6 modules has been updated using the Complete Update. And I can Turn On and Off the 6 pads using the Desktop. It should mean that the communication is not an issue, right?

Well, looking at LED I modules I can see that all slots are filled. There are 6 large and 5 small installed. According to the specs SR900 has 6 LED Modules and 5 Auxiliary slots. By default I-260 has White, Royal Blue and Blue. But I also see UV in the menu and can change it.

There is also has Spare Modules menu but nothing happens when I select it.

How can I identify which modules are installed?

When you updated your pads and have the latest updates on your desktop it should automatically show which module pads you have by adding those colors as options to adjust. For instance, the fixture comes standard with blue, royal blue, and white. When you go into the desktop program it will only show those three. When you add modules and do updates, the other colors show up on the desktop program.

I am still stuck on the communication thing. You can turn your main pads on and off from the desktop in the light studio. But you can't do that with the color modules???

If you can't get instant communication with those added modules and you have done the updates there maybe a hardware issue.

Make sure ALL updates are current.

If the modules have never shown up in the desktop software, you may have to reseat the modules.
I had to do this when I added a Royal Blue Module that didn't light up and now it works fine.

If you can't get anywhere with our conversation you need to contact proline aquatics...that is if you are in North America. You can email jen@prolineaquatics.com She is very helpful.

I spoke with Jen just a couple of weeks ago about a software issue and she was great!
Fixed my issue within minutes and was very informative about the fixtures and software.

Actually they shown up but didn't work. But now they even are not listed. Thanks guys. Will try to contact Jen.

Yesterday purchased and installed 3 Vertex Illumina Multicolor Aux Modules on my 36" SR260. What should be my approach when ramping up the new colors? I am keeping them fairly low especially the UV which I have at 5. My current color spread is:

Whte- 20
Royal- 70
Blue- 60
Red- 25
UV-5
Green-10
Warmwhite- 15

7 hour Peak
3 hour ramp
Sun up 9 am
Sun down 10pm

Any tips would be very helpful.

Simulating light movement over display

Simulating light movement over display

How do I simulate the moving angle of sunlight during the day. I have the sr260 and would like to only use two modules at a time from east to west to simulate morning light angle, mid-day and sunset at west as opposed to all the modules at the same time.

Thanks.

I have never been able to use my V controller with my Mac, only with a PC. Anyone having luck with the latest 1970 desktop on Mac OS 10.9? How close to the tank do you have to be?

Well I feel dumb.... the software works fine in OS X 10.9 here are the steps

1. Security settings change
*On your Mac running on Mavericks 10.9 go to "system preferences"
*Now click on "Security & Privacy" which is located on the top row
*Once you are in, click on that lock image on the bottom left corner to release
*It will prompt a message telling you to enter your system admin password
*Enter your password and the lower portion will be available for you to make changes
* Click on "Anywhere". A message will pop up telling you it is less secure. Just click on the "Allow From Anywhere" button

Thats it!

2. installation of Vertex desktop
*doubleclick on the *.dmg file
*doubleclick on "install"
*the terminal opens and asks for the system admin password --> enter the system admin password
*the installation is started and the vertex Desktop icon has been created in the applications folder

3. use of Vertex Desktop
* doubleclick on the vertex Desktop icon in the applications folder to start Vertex Desktop
*click on "file" and select "Select V-Stick" and press OK
*click on "file" and select "update device list"
