VERTEX RO/DI Set up Question

I am trying to figure out how these filters go in order. The directions on this thing sucks. There are 3 canisters. Let's say #1 is Sediment Filter, #2 is Carbon (which I know goes into the middle), and #3 is DI cartridge. There is a #4, but that was easy, the one on top. What I need to know is which filter does the tap water hit first, and which filter is last in line for an RO/DI unit like this (there is a RO membrane as #4).

Here is an over all picture of mine,

I will try to explain each part, if you need more detailed pictures, I have them.

Mine hooks up to my sink, but the concepts are going to be the same.

The black line is the "in" water. It goes to the first canister (( on the RIGHT )), that one is the pre-filter. The second (( middle )) is the carbon block --- those are already connected.

Then there is a tube that goes out from the carbon block to the horizontal "tube" on top of the unit. That is the RO membrane. At the opposite end of that there are two outlets, one is the waste water, the other will go to the 4th chamber (( on the left )), that 4th chamber is the DI resin. The water that comes out of that is pure water and goes into your container.

Again, if that wasn't enough, I have pictures that covers each step.

That is perfect. For some reason, the direction are showing the unit backwards from how it really is. I thought the DI filter was the last stop, I just needed to check. This is great information and I appreciate it. Where your tap water comes in on the right side, mine has a "tap water" sticker on the left side. Thanks for helping.

Glad I could help.

And it starting on the left or right could differ by the maker of it, and heck even the angle of the picture. If I took it from the other side... :)

I started the water to it, and sure enough, the way yours is set up and the directions were correct. The sticker for tap water was on the wrong side of the unit. So I changed it, and now I am making RO/DI, which is crucial as we are filling up the 310 this weekend.

The order you want is sediment to carobon to ro to di, as Todd mentioned above.

Also as mentioned befor, depending upon your particular system, the sediment filter may be on the right or on the left when you are facing the system.

You may want to download the instructions for a 4 stage RODI system from our website - they include a diagram with all the parts labeled.
