I have the IN-250 but I think this pump would be too much for the 180. I can only turn the wedge tube 1/4 so I would imagine the same pump on a 180 would overpower the size of the body, unless you lifted the skimmer higher and lowered the height of the tee. I am very interested in hearing if the bubble blaster will fit a 180 or 250. Where did you order it from?
 
Thanks found that just after posting. Now I'm debating if this would be enough to power my IN-250. So far it skims good as-is but I think it could handle more air.
 
Dang, this in80 has a loud vibration sound, its killing me. What gives? I ordered the gen2 pinwheel, which I hope will help, but any thoughts as to whats up. Its been running for a day and a half now.
 
The 250 is still a 8" body but just much taller (31.5") whereas the 180 is 24" tall. I think the neck diameter may be the same. Have you received the bubble blaster yet?

I also had contemplated doing a mesh mod.

Like a loud humming sound? Mine does that too! It's actually louder than my return pump. I looked at the magnet and it has a little scoring, so maybe it's unbalanced?

I kinda fiigured it miught be out of balance, because its way louder than my return, which I dont even hear. The new impeller comes with the magnet I believe, so Im really hoping this works. My girlfriends brother and sister in law are coming to stay this weekend and Id really like to have it figured out by then. I tried meshing the wheel, but im not getting the performance that I expected, and its still loud. I used 4 layers of gutter guard and fishing line. I also got some 3m pads, but am not sure if they are the right ones. They are blue, but where listed as synthetic steel wool, not scouring pads. Any thoughts on that?
 
Mojo meshmodded his IN 100 and got minimal improvement. I'd leave it stock. I think I'm going to contact Premium Aquatics to see if they'll replace mine.
 
For anyone with a 280: I am considering buying one.

Do you know how many gallons per hour the pump actuall moves or is rated at? I am trying to see what flow I need into the sump to support it and I would like to match the flow.

+1 on the in 280 ive got my going itno a 55 sump on a 120 tank anyone have the proper flow n water level for these BMF lol i got the box today and pulled it out this thing is huge
 
I just got mine Tuesday night from Craigslist. Iam not sure what the pump is rated for. i don't have a manual either so I really can't help. hopefully some Vertex vet would chime in. The skimmer is built like a tank and as big as one also. LOL.

that is what he said.. But, he also posted the scfh gain in real numbers- If I remember right is was 20% or better gain (35%?)... I remember it wasn't too bad of a gain! ( IE some see 5 as low number, but it isn't if added to 20)
Do you remember where to look for this info?

BTW, I would leave it stock also , untill you have 2nd wheel in your hands.. :D

I would think that it would be the same as any of the other sizes. I run my IN80 with the level 1/2 to 3/4s of the way up the skimmer cup.

I went to premiums web site just after my post and looked ;)
I have not recieved the shipping notice yet... I orderd serveral items and I bet , they our holding it to get all items shipped together..

I wanted to do mesh mod after 3-4days running! the pumps just look to weak to me. My wedge pipe is 7/8's closed! :( I guess they just went on the safe side..
I like pushing skimmer to the edge :eek1:

I just wasn't sure I wanted to pay 40$ for extra pin/w to mesh.. ( I wanted to keep pin/w also)-- When I knew I had another skimmer coming..
I have been looking for someone that got a replacement pin/w, I would offer to buy just thier used pin/w..
 
My water level is just below neck, but after black body ring. Its small bubbles 1/2 way up neck.

Great pic RBK! the question was asked- "What is your water level", that is why I posted mine.
The bubble level can change during the day, due to feeding/cleaning /etc, but the water level generally does not. (or should not)
That is why many use water level to set skimmer and why this question is asked often :)
