Ive had this IN 100 for three weeks now.Performing perfectly,no mods.

Skimmer has ran all night no improvement to the formation of the foam head. Still looks like the picture I posted. I took everything apart on the pump and nothing is stuck in the pins, shaft looks fine, both washers and rubber garrments are installed. Skimmer is sitting in 7-1/2" of water. The only differance is my sump is much larger than my old one and it is not sectioned off but I wouldnt think that would be a problem?

It has me stumbed right now also. looking at pic, it even looks like it would be freshwater. I wonder if some additive caused this?
Did you double check the whole air-line, ventri and hose?

Airline is clear-can blow thru easily and ventri is also clear. Nothing has been added to the water except Reef Crystals Salt. Its all new pre-mixed RO/DI water and salt. Was hoping it would fix itself over night but no such luck.

I have the opposite problem with my new IN280. I added pimafix and melafix to the tank a few weeks back and now I can't get rid of the excess foaming in my skimmer. It is working but I have been leaving the drain plug off because it is skimming so much.

I have read that carbon will help. Worth a try

Lucky you, grats on the new skimmer. I can't seem to find the IN-100 anywhere. PA has been sold out for over a month and has no idea when they will get more in. I'm gonna have a lousy christmas .

reef specialty has vertex in stock, marine depot has them except the 180 model.

Marine Depot doesnt carry the IN-100. They currently have the 80, 250, and 280. Reef Specialty doesn't show the Vertex line on their website.

My tank just started getting diatoms and the skimmer has filled up every two days with dark gunk since ...I suppose I should be glad its in the skimmer not the tank.

Just got more carbon in from Bulk Reef Supply. Yes. Valve has been open to full. Only other thing I can think is my skimmer pipes are assembled in the wrong ordered. See my question on the last page back about the order of assembly. I think mine are right though.

Sounds like your problem is in the pump. Have you taken it apart?
